Well I was supposed to be going with a couple of friends up to the Lake District to do some of the passes up there. Set off at 7.30am this morning and actually only did the following route We got past Cartmel and despite all the weather forecasts I’d looked at before leaving home, the heavens opened and we got piss wet through and it was about 3C so we decided to head back. We got back to Devils Bridge and it was dry so we had a cuppa to try and dry out and warm up, but then it started to rain again so we decided to call it a day and head home. Towards Settle it stopped raining and brightened up. But by this time we were all soaking wet and cold and I could feel the water swishing around my gentleman’s area, which wasn’t fun. By the time I’d got to Denholme, near Halifax I’d started to dry out, but it was still very cold and the batteries on my heated gloves had given up the ghost. However just before Brighouse the heavens opened yet again and everything was swishing about in water again. I finally got home around 1.15pm and now all my kit is scattered around the house on various radiators drying out. The bike looks like a “barn find” and will have to wait until tomorrow to be cleaned.
Finished boarding out my loft(right PITA). So decided to take Pani out. Got 9 miles from home & realised my house keys were not with me. Couldn’t remember picking them up off bike seat while putting gloves on. Sharp you turn and shot back home to find them on my drive; phew. Went off again along coast to Cromer.
Ride out to Kilnsey crag trout farm This image taken about two minutes before a fekkin biblical hail and rain shower, temp dropped down to 2c! and I just had my leathers on!,... I was blue with cold by the time I got home !
We’ve gone away to Dorset in the Shed on Wheels. The forecast was 80% chance of heavy rain and gales but so far though it’s been pretty cold, it’s been dry and sunny. The dog is absolutely loving it, mostly because it’s the only time he’s allowed on the bed. View attachment 239790
Spent a happy few years in Dorset. Lovely county. Used to get my GSXR’s serviced at Crescent Suzuki when Paul D was the manager there.
Well I washed the bike and the car this morning (still need to clean the inside of the car) before the heavy rain and winds set in for the day. After doing that I spent a couple of hours dusting and cleaning the bedrooms and bathrooms, as SWMBO had done downstairs whilst l was outdoors. This afternoon I’ve watched two episodes of the sopranos.
I'd a very brief rideout on the SL and got a shock with the side crosswinds, then watched the moto 3 / 2 and Not the big race as i'd that yesterday.
Had my second COVID vaccination today. Got a reminder text and turned up in plenty of time, 12:15 for 12:30, to be told my appointment was at 2pm and that they had no idea who was sending the texts because I was one of many turning up at the wrong time. Hey, ho, I wasn’t turned away so all good in the end. Having a lay down at the moment, sod all to do with the vaccine, spent 2 hours in the garden single digging a patch of wasteland under my kitchen window. One half tonne bag filled with about 20kg of roots and weeds, another bag waiting to be filled tomorrow as I continue to single dig a bit more. Andy
The weather here has been pretty crappy all day (very windy and heavy rain - and it’s still lashing down) so I’ve done next to nothing barring watching Sopranos and reading.
