Folks, I am looking to buy a rear paddock stand for my MTS1200. I know there are some posts on this site showing all singing expensive ones, but I can't justify (or don't have) that sort of money. I wondered if there were any other paupers that have bought one of the cheap ones that are advertised on e-bay, such as: Rear Paddock Stand ConStands Ducati Multistrada 1200 Motorcycle rear (4250429123620) | eBay or Ducati Multistrada 1200 10-12 paddock stand SET MTS inc S | eBay Anyone had any experience of these (build quality,fit etc), or could recommend an alternative cheapy one. All input would be gratefully received, unless it's a picture of a 400 quid lift !, in which case it won't :frown:
I had one of these types on my previous MV Agusta & MK1 Multi & was never confident enough with the stability so went for an abba stand which for me is brilliant. Motorcycle Stands - Abba Stands, UK
i have a con stands rear paddock stand realy well made even has roller bearings in insert so it rotates easy cant fault it hope that helps
+1 for the abba stand Great piece of kit, very secure, not to expensive....and u can buy different fitting kits when u change your bike, as I did when I bought the multi
Looks good. What do you do about lifting the front? Their front lift is not suitable. I guess you could still use a conventional front stand?
Yes, spend a few more £s and get an Abba Stand - I've had a couple, still have one for the MTS12 which I intend to keep despite having a Bursig stand also. Thanks for the input guys, really useful info as I was not aware of the ABBA stand ! The Abba looks like a great buy as I have a number of bikes that I an use it on. That's the beauty of these forums - sharing information "that's the name of the game" :wink: Once I took a look at this device on the interweb I could say was "Mama Mia" - "Gimme Gimme Gimme" Anyhow, enough of the ABBA puns, I have just placed my order. No doubt once I give it a try, if I have any questions, I post back here with an "SOS"....................... sorry 'bout that, couldn't resist :tongue::biggrin:
Hmmm, or I have an N.W.S Ultimoto stand.....it's a bit like the Abba, except you can lift the front using a jack under the sump, and you can also wheel it about (it's on wheels, which can be 'locked' to stop it moving). I'm not sure if N.W.S. are still trading or not, but I had the Ultimoto and the (rear paddock stand) with 'Grab-Ons' for my previous bikes. Both exceptional quality items...contemplating selling though, as I never use them now.
....or rather the paddock stand was called the 'Backup' and, combined with the 'Grab-ons', you could attach it to pretty much any swing arm either using bobbins or the grab-ons which attached to the swing arm temporarily....great kit.
The great thing about the NWS stand is the conical inserts, which mean you do not have to keep buying adaptors as with the Abba every time you get a new bike. Good sturdy bit of kit if anyone else is contemplating workshop stands.
Oh yes, they were widely regarded at 'the best', and generally came top in all the reviews. Great kit that is sturdy, and exceptionally well made. ..... I read that Pyramid Plastics bought the plastics side of the business in 2008/9 and then the fellow making the stands retired. Someone else carried on, but the business faltered, and Pyramid stepped in to buy the remaining stock and rights to the name... the website was recently taken down too. So that's it, I have "collectors items"!! ;-)
