1200 What Upgrades To Tweak Performance?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by tiktokrick, May 9, 2021.

  1. I have a 2014 Multistrada 1200 S GT, it is a great bike with lots of kit and I am not sure that I want to PX it for the more powerful 1260 or a V4. I use it for the odd weekend scratch, or long distance 2up trips.

if I were to keep it, what changes could I make to it, that would make it feel more powerful, or quicker? So far, I have:

    • chain & sprockets
    • Quick shifter
    • Remap
    • Decat (are these legal?)

  2. Try the 15t front/42t rear sprocket set.
Or the easier 14t front/40t rear combination.
Results in increased acceleration and ability to bimble along smoothly in 30mph zones in 3rd gear, and 40mph areas in 4th gear.
If you have real money to spend get a pair of forged wheels, or even lighter are carbon fibre wheels. Reduced unsprung weight and quicker turning.

  3. Thank you for the suggestions, what makes the second sprocket combo ‘easier’?
Which (in lieu of me doing my own research) sprocket combo will be better at higher cruising speeds?

  4. Hit the search function. Loads of threads here to improve performance.

  5. Air box mod and pipercross filter

  6. sounds like this would require increased fuelling to compensate for the airflow.

  7. It stays in the range for the ECU to adjust ok

  8. Same as the decat you did
