whats the difference between 1299 and V4 platforms ?

 

What's your budget as they'll some different between the two if you're looking at S models for each

I rode a v4s a few weeks ago, very different to the twin a felt
Ride one and see!
Short stroke motor was a bit wheezy at low end, just my two cents

 

They’re electronically governed low down. And rightly so. The V4S is crazy powerful. The V4R is a different animal. Over square engine with crazy top end...

 

By an Aprilia v4 you wont be disappointed

I thought I wanted one and as time has ticked by realised I don’t! I’m not interested in racing, just the odd track day. A V4S is significantly cheaper but definitely not significantly slower.

I was told today that the latest version is no longer governed, no torque limiting in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Sadly it’s an engine map so not a retro fit for the earlier model nor is the v3 DTC Andy

S = road use only
Base = road and track- but upgrade suspension with Good quality Ohlins / K tech etc with the money saved
