Ohlins Spring For 999 On Track Help

Discussion in 'Suspension help' started by Yazwaz, May 13, 2021.

  1. Started using the 999 on track and need to change the shock spring. Can someone please confirm what I need. I’m 196lbs without gear (don’t laugh) so approx 210 with or around 95kg in new money. The spring on at the moment is a 105 which is a bit stiff. From what I’ve searched I think I need a 100nm spring but some suggest a 95. It will be for track use only. Any help from those who know would be appreciated.

  2. This may help. I know it relates to the previous gen bikes but it may be the 1091 spring that’s on the 999 gen as well. 1091 is just Ohlins code for the spring length.

  3. I have always wondered what those numbers meant, thank you for the table. This one below came off my 748 RS and is surplus to requirements unless I go on a massive diet.

  4. LOL. Standard fitment for a skinny Italian :joy:.

Unfortunately, us Northern Europeans and our American cousins tend to be somewhat larger :(.

btw, I take no credit for the table, merely sharing something someone else created many years ago on another forum.

  5. I’d have to lose a lot of weight for that spring to be any use. I’ve ordered one from a local suspension shop and going to get the bike setup with some base settings at the same time.

  6. I just bought this puppy for the 999, it's a 01091 19/70 L435, so perfect for my 85-90 kgs suited weight. If anyone has a 17 or 18 though, please let me know.
