I have a V4S as you may know and it’s a cracking bike! Very fast bike. Different animal to yours obviously but the V4 is a mightily impressive bike. But remember, the V4S and the V4R have totally different motors and therefore characteristics. Probably as fast as one another but different...
It’s a hard position to be in when you have a load of time and money invested. It’s a special looking bike for sure, and would be as hard to replicate or replace. I’d wait till your back up and running or just raise the stakes on the asking price.... Don’t get bullied into a bad mistake, or what other people think it’s worth! Ask yourself what’s it worth to you?and just ignore any negative comments raised! It’s your ride dude ..... I think it’s a Mega looking bike
You're right as my R is different from an 1199s having ridden both, I guess best bet will be to get this surgery and recovery out of the way and test ride a v4 before, maybe then but it's a while until I can get back, as weird as it may sound I had woken up with a double twisted testicle and had to have emergency surgery as i've done heart fibrilations because of 5 and a half hours of pain so sticking something between my legs it's 100% not an option now But hearing you all the time talking about how fast is ur bike makes me very curious!
Thank you for this, in all fairness I did spent a lot of time to get the bits done to it, I'm due to paint the fairings in a weeks time to something like this With that number on the front (tribute to my dad) So it's something that tickles me as an ideea and a possibly a new project but also at the same time I have the fear of regret if I do it.. And this crap surgery is not helping either..
Well it sounds like your going to be out for a while after surgery so something to keep your busy and motivated. I’d stick with the new design and run with it.... I can definitely confirm how bonkers the V4 is! But you might miss some of the earlier character. Plus your going to be into the V4 at a lot of dollars if your looking for the same kind of uniqueness as yours Hope your surgery goes well
Thanks bud, already had the surgery, 3 weeks now passed and it's getting better but will be out for a while, I'm still going for the paintjob anyway if I'll fully decide to sell then will probably happen after my recovery when I'll test the v4, until then I guess I'll have to see, maybe with the new look will take away the desire of a new thing who knows, I might be able to get back in time for ducati day at brands? If i'm lucky
Jeeezus, that sounds grim!! Hope the surgery goes well and get well soon! Another marvel with the V4 is the electronics. As with most modern flagship bikes now, the power and control go hand in hand. I had a salty 1098R before. Amazing bikes but they try to kill you
Nice bike. I had a V4s and chopped it in for a 2015 Pani R. The twin is significantly narrower at the front of the seat and being a shortarse the v2 bike fits me better. You might find the narrower shape suits you more given your current testicle issue. Or I might be taking balls
Nothing more satisfying than creating something yourself that works! Huge credit to you for going out and fabricating it yourself. It's amazing how much a professional setup can change a bike. I'd say keep it if you can but I can totally see the allure of a new toy to start from scratch on. Go out and test ride the V4 and see what you think. If you fall in love, at least now we hopefully get to see another amazing build forming.
Thanks bud, ur right and I was looking in a way at a v4 because it's already wider (like a gp) all this started when I managed to get the chance to see the GP18 in person and I remained fascinated by it, If I end up getting a v4 in future I would look to re create the gp18 winglets and create an aero kit on a pair of race fairings (including the duct hole in front) Because it's a v4 there has a better platform to work on the wider fairings and If I were to do that on the 1199 i would have to create a new set of fairings wider to accomodate that and a new tail, I though about it for a long time and I even started a design for a different nose cone That involved a bit of clay shaping and all, something that I really like to put my mind to it, But yeah, unless someone has an v4 race fairing broken that's not used and has nothing to do with it to work on that, it will probably have to postpone that until I decide on what to do next
Sounds like a good and interesting plan. Have to say I'd love to see a build like that. If you do go for the V4 I do hope you'll create a build thread to follow. I'd love to follow your Instagram also so feel free to throw that out here/PM me it.
Ended up lucky enough to meet JL and get my helmet signed and witness that in person, such a nice bloke despite his attitude sometimes
It's @elderdream I've put a whole saved story under Project Erika about the winglets on the 1199r on the profile How i've done it and all
Thanks, subbed! Huge fan of JL. I guess I'm one of the few that don't mind his attitude/personality. Was a sad day when he was dropped by Ducati. Huge mistake letting him go instead of dropping Dovi earlier.
Once he clicked with the bike he was amazing, I felt sad seeing him go to honda, I just wished he would've stayed more with the ducati, He was deffo better than Dovi towards the end, He might be cocky but he has all right to be one, he proved himself and he speaks a lot of sense I've subscribed to his channel 99 seconds on youtube and he is awesome
well then its done its job... or the job of the moderators! im sure the forum rules are still available!
You see, I don't mind spending a fiver to support the forum, I would spend another tenner if that would make you stop pointing fingers at other people, I'm sure you got a whole history of that I'm not bothered to dig it out tho
I'm 6 foot tall and I guess having the bike wider would not make me look like a sausage on the bike It's bad enough that I hear quite a few jokes about my nose being big but that's one of the reason I've bought an AGV to fit that I'm interested tho if you felt the need to go back on a v2 because of the feel or just the overall fitment for you? The only thing that stays on my mind and not commiting to sell is that I'll regret it.. I've hold on to my first bike 848 evo in pearl white till now because I loved that bike But I finally let it go hopefully on Monday, I agreed to sell it for 5.3k on webuyanybike.com 17k on the clock valves done etc at that price because of few cracks that appeared on the fairings V hole next to the clutch after I dropped on me like an idiot Other than that she is in a very good condition but I know that is an off for some people as they want it perfect I don't know yet if thats stupid of me or not
V4s was and is an awesome piece of kit. But. 1. V2 much slimmer and feels a bit more agile 2. Depreciation on v4 was quite alarming so a Pani R less of a financial risk imho 3. V2 appeals as it’s a v2. Tradition. And last of the line. V4 probably a bit easier to ride but also a bit easier to find yourself at “go to jail” speeds. I have not regretted getting the Pani R once in the last two years.
