996 Crankshaft

  1. does anyone, by any chance, have a decent 996 crankshaft they are willing to part with?

  2. Oh no, not the swamp bike?

  3. unfortunately mate. the lump i purchased from Leicester gave out a rattle of death, subsequentally it seems the big end bearings were shot to bits and now crank pin is shagged (technically speaking). is what it is i suppose.

i'm hoping that i can get hold of a replacement shaft somewhere as i really dont want to start breaking and selling it in bits, i would easy get back what it owes me but would be a real shame.

  4. Bugger. Try Geoff at Baines. He might have something that would help?

  5. good shout mate, i'll give them a call :upyeah:

  6. Luigi Moto may be worth a call to.

  7. isnt there 2 types of crank??

  8. Good cranks and fucked cranks?

  9. different ends for the fly wheel??

  10. I’ve got the fucked type! Yeh there are slight differences, I’m after later type 2000 on I think

Tried Luigi Moto, no joy. Baines said he’ll have a look in his lock up so I have my fingers crossed!

  12. I’ll take another look, I saw one on there but it was in the states

  13. Is there a part number? I have an Engine in bits , there may be a crank in there, crate of engine bits came with a bike I bought, never actually looked in the crate past the layer of gears on top, but there are engine cases in there. I think it's a 916 era engine

  14. What about the mechanic formally known as Ducati John?

  15. I tried his website a little while ago but doesn’t seem to be there. Is he still working on bikes?

  16. PM’d mate

  17. You may have to chase him Pete. I was there yesterday and he is absolutely flat out and on top of the workload he is moving units in June (still at Silverstone).
Doesn’t mean he does not have one if you don’t hear....

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  18. @Pete433 mate would it poss to have your old crank once you have a good one sorted??

  19. I have a duff crank, depends what you plan to do with it, looks like it's got damaged teeth on the starter motor (?) End, it is too damaged for Pete's use
