Swapped a road legal Arrow end can and an Arrow race end can on the teenagers Mito. It was interesting to note that the only differences between the 2 are that one says "not for road use" and the other has a BS number, other than that they're identical.
Spot of tank derusting using electrickery. Thanks to @Geoffrey Lebowski for the idea. Another Geoff, at Baines, was doing exactly the same when I was in on Wednesday. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/petrol-tank-rust-900ss-por-15-coating.85976/
Chopped a couple of titanium M5 bolts down to 20mm from 25. I’d forgotten just how cool the sparks were when slitting titanium!
Just received some parts purchased from a forum member (@DREVIL ) so been fitting bits to my Multistrada. A new to me Sargent seat is hopefully going to take the pressure off my sacrum, coccyx removed a few years ago so it can’t be them causing the pain. Andy
After today’s ride was cancelled again because of this pissy weather , I set to and gave my leathers, helmet and boots a good cleaning, the leathers in particular needed it cos they were like a meat feast pizza with all the bugs stuck on them and then covered with road spray from a shower the other day... Came up nicely using a pot of Hein Gerike leather grease I’ve had for years.. Only took me about half an hour, see yer face in them now ! All the while the rain was absolutely lashing off the conservatory roof, really loud at times ! Job sorted and all my gear put away, it was time for a coffee and a read of this month’s Bike magazine, I’ve got it on yearly “prescription “ you know ! They seem to be unimpressed with the new Speedy, and are commenting that the 210 plus bhp of the RSV4 and V4 Panigale is totally irrelevant for road use these days ....discuss
I can’t imagine what 200bhp feels like on the road. I hired a V4S on a track tuition day a few years ago and tbh it was actually too easy to ride. I realise that sounds a bit counter intuitive because “easy to ride” should equal “safer” but to my mind it just means that when you eventually run out of talent or road and hit something there’s a lot more energy to dissipate.
Changed the wheels on my off roader hopefully this help with the front end moving around too much on the mostly pebble surface that I ride on. Makes it exciting though when it rains something akin to ice....
I watched a video on YouTube of the new RSV4 1100, the guy was still running it in and keeping around 6k revs but he never got it out of 3rd gear! Everything else on the road just seemed to be going backwards. I don’t think I have the self control to manage / restrict that sort of power on the road, I’d be banned in no time!
Most of the riders I know or spoken with with that type of bike are no longer owners all sold to preserve their driving licenses. My very good friend sold his pantigirlie after only 600 miles of riding due to just how easy it was getting up to potentially imprisonable speeds. I’ll stick to my 790 the wind blast warns me without need to resort to the speedo that that fast enough.
Absolutely That's one of the benefits of the 8* and 9* bikes from the '90s. All show and not a lot of go (by todays standards...). Even the Multi catches me out on the commute.
Starting to sort out MOT and tax for the 888 now it is back from being PPF'd by RBD in East Grinstead. So after grumbling about the time it took to do, I can only say that the wait was worth it. They did a great job and the coverage was far more comprehensive than I had expected. One more left to do and I will be using them to do the job. Highly recommended... as long as you are not in a rush...!
Oh yeah ! I’d forgotten that you could end up with a year in prison for silly speeds over the ton ?? Wouldn’t bother me like cos the Wife would get me out of jail in the first few days, ..how come ?? Well put it like this,...I’ve been with her for decades and she’s never let me finish a sentence yet !
Got the Pani R MoT’d. At @cookster emporium. Well it was dry and who doesn’t ride 80 miles each way for an MoT and a coffee? And a gawp at a rather nice gixer. Cheers Al. Popped into OYB on way back. Low on used stock - can’t keep up with the demand for sportsbikes
Forgot to mention that I used a new bike specific phone nav app that takes the twistie routes to your destination. It’s called Calimoto and is in the App Store foc.
Hey Richard that looks in immaculate condition, i guess it passed with flying colours. As for supply and demand it's a illness for us bikers to keep spending the money regardless of our situations.
I’ve used Calimoto for a few years now. It’s been pretty good when I’ve used it. Later I’m off to pick my scrambler up from the dealer
