As it is raining and I now have the correct Abba stand adaptors, I removed the Scrambler Icon’s very basic OE rear shock absorber and fitted a much nicer Ohlins that I managed to acquire. Hopefully it will improve the ride quality which could certainly do with improving. Now got to work out to improve the front, single disc set up to cope with the fact you’ll now be riding faster Andy
Met up with a bike-riding mate last night intending to have dinner and then enjoy some of the NSL roads around the Herts/Bucks borders, but we just ended up enjoying the most amazing steak at the Miller & Carter in Wheathamstead and catching up as we haven't seen one another for 9 months.
changed.. yet another oil pressure switch on Ugly No 2. As Ducati charge approx £27 for one, I just ordered 3 "pattern" ones for around £13.
...and bloody Riders Bristol want to charge £34! Do you know if the switching pressure is marked on the part (haven't had a chance to look at mine yet) so I can match it to a non-OEM part?
no it isn't Keith, I nearly replied to your post yesterday. I know it would be nice to know but in a way it doesn't matter as it's deemed to be "around" the right figure for the average engine, and be it 2 psi or 5-6 psi, it only serves as a safety warning at higher revs for me anyway - as long as it works on the day that is!! I've had them fail:- light refusing to come on at all, light becoming intermittent (and connector checked), light working ok but leaking oil, leaking oil and then light not working.
I wouldn't be that cheeky I have a hunch it's all down to a lower grade "plastic" used than was on the original design. I can't believe someone would invest the time to design, test and then declare a sender fit for use on mass-produced vehicles as is, with such a high fail rate. The unit on my 1098 was O.E.M and failed at less than 4k miles, the oil loss was massive and unseen because of the fairing and could have resulted in engine destruction as this one failed electrically as well.
Just goes to show that dealer premium prices from all manufacturers just means maximum profit and feck the end user.
OE front brake lines re-fitted after retiring the HEL Dry Break brake lines. All bled through with Motul 660 and MoT booked. Andy
MOT time for my R1200s so took it up to my usual place and he’d mentioned the exhaust didn’t have DB killers last year but still passed it so was wondering how it would go this year. Went through no problem and no mention of the exhaust so happy days.
With that first picture thought you had customised it for that popular ‘plasters radio’ look that @Advikaz advocates.
Popped to my friendly, trusted local motor factor (GSF) to get the oil-pressure switch 'alternative': ...that I was only charged £8 for . Did I mention that they're friendly & trusted...? Then over to Riders (Bristol) to pick up the replacement MAP sensor for £68. Let's hope this sorts out the gremlins... I should have taken a picture of the new Monsters (charcoal one looked good) as I reckon it looks loads better in the flesh than all the side-on pics I've seen so far. Yes - it hasn't got a trellis frame but it's got a new style that I reckon is good. Also saw a 70-reg V4-multi demonstrator that looked like it had RH-crankcase corrosion where the weather had pooled... Also was reminded that I've got a bit too used to the - albeit minimum - traction control I've got on the Hyper when I span up the R1200S back wheel in the drizzle. Fortunately haven't forgotten how to deal with it tho
