Ducatiscud is quite right. My peddling is mostly over the penines. Both lancashire and yorkshire. There is a real lot of mtb riding on my doorstep, I'm lucky, I can be off road and in the trails within ten minutes. That's why 99% of my mtb 'ing doesn't include vanning the bikes to trails
Was out yesterday morning on the monster, this morning was peddling. 17 miles of up and down over the moors. Good riding in great conditions....
I was up at the crack of sparrow fart this morning and rode from Bankfoot again, but I had the intention of adding on a loop around Rosedale abbey. I was on the Cleveland way pedalling like the clappers by 8:30, the climb up onto the Cleveland way gains over 600feet in the first mile!! Strava route below I hurtled along the Farndale rail line and got to Blakey ridge road junction in 59 minutes, chuffed to do it in under an hour Looping around the top of Rosedale on another disused rail line Then I went down ( thank god ) Rosedale chimney bank, if anyone knows this and has climbed it in one go, I take my hat off to you! It’s a bloody killer ! Found a nice bench in the sun in Rosedale abbey church to have my bait stop on Just a light snack today Coronation chicken bun, massive slab of Bakewell slice I’d just bought at Rosedale tea room, nice frothy coffee and a Tunnock’s caramel wafer ,..heaven ...Belgian caramel waffles and cherries are for afternoon coffee stop On the climb out of Rosedale the curried coronation chicken repeated on me like buggery ! Can’t help it,..this Farm sign always gets me sniggering like a little schoolboy,...grow up man !! Climbed out of Rosedale along past the iron works kilns This is where all the Valerian steel was mined for the Game of Thrones swords,......no it wasn’t, I’m just a lying git !! Scenery doesn’t get much better than this Have bike, will travel Garmin stats for the day, for some reason Strava always gives me a slower average speed ?? Only 28 mph top speed today, brakes had an easy day Totally lush day out in the sun, get it while you can !
Just so you know what your taking on DS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosedale_Chimney_Bank Locally known as “ the chain breaker” !
Well you know how we cyclists don’t like to brag about our climbing prowess, having ridden the Fred Whitton Challenge twice and cleaned Hardknott pass after 100 miles and cleaned all the previous climbs. That looks doable with a decent set of legs, if only I could find them. Hardknott, includes a link to The Fred Whitton challenge ride https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardknott_Pass This is a very tough climb, my cycling bud took it on at the end of his amateur road racing. In Yorkshire too. https://calderdale50.wordpress.com/50-climbs/hebden-bridge/up-the-buttress/
Made it to Richmond Bridge at 5.30 but forgot my phone. Pleased that I managed it but will know tomorrow if got away with it, 32 miles. Saw a genuine 250 SWB in Hampton Court, and it was then that I realised i had no phone..
What colour though? An old customer of mine had a Metallic Blue Ferrari it never looked right to me Blue.
Was in Swindon Monday doing a little job that took all of a hour, I didn’t see anything like that though.
After rebuilding this Kona Explosif to better suit my needs, new wheels, tyres, 11-50 cassette, new rear derailleur ,shifter, Hope disc brakes and blingy Titanium bars. Went out round Cannock Chase AONB with my Son, went straight over the bars at 1 point only my pride is hurt luckily no witnesses……. Bike is so much better.
47 miles on the road bike around the rough end of town. Not sure why these chaps were crossing the road... Eastleach is a tiny Hamlet in the Cotswolds, know for having two churches damn near opposite from each other.
