I've got a 2011 MTS 1200s, recently bought. Love the bike, the engine has plenty of character - some might say agricultural! - Anyway, slow work around town, in traffic it's not the greatest. I read a lot about the fuelling etc and that it should be tuned. Even at any speed when opening the taps it vibes away! - don't mind that so much as when getting up to speed it calms down and vibes go away. Anyone done this on their 2010-12 MTS? - Seems CJS is the place to go for this. I'd just like it to be smoother! - it's a standard bike with standard exhaust etc. Thanks, Al.
First thing would be to get a decat exhaust and drop 1 tooth on the front sprocket. There are a couple of off the shelf plug in modules that improve the running. Plenty of info on the forum, you just need to hit the right key words in the search bar. Andy
Thanks, will look at the sprocket route too. I have done a search, but as you say probably need the right keywords. Will have another go!
Had my 2013 MT remapped at Hilltop. It transformed it from something I was looking to get shot off to a keeper.
That's good to know, thanks very much. It's only 25 miles from me so well worth a look. So it smoothed the bike out across the whole range? - did you see any figure improvement and lastly, how did it affect fuel consumption? Thanks.
The more performance you have, the more you are tempted to play and believe me, from my own experience, when you play, the fuel consumption is heavy. Reserve light on at 100 miles, running on fumes by 150 miles. I do tour but steady mileage fully loaded does not break the 200 miles barrier. In our group, I am the first to stop for fuel and on the one long day I was persuaded to do, about 370 miles, that was 3 tanks. I suck it up because I enjoy scratching from A to B immensely and my riding companions usually have patience. Andy
The bike was awful at low revs, I was essentially riding everywhere apart from dual carriageways in 3rd and 4th. Since getting it done it pulls in every gear. Consumption has probably gone up now I’m using 5th and even 6th gear I didn’t bother getting it dyno’ed before and after so I can’t tell you difference it made there. I rode up there from Kent to get it done, the ride home was much more enjoyable even in the rain than the ride up! Search Hilltop on here, quite a few people have used them
I used to commute on mine and it was grim at low revs. I had some O2 manipulators, they worked well but the bike ran very rich and definitely less mileage to a tank. The smaller front sprocket really helps Just found a link to a review of the O2 manipulators. https://www.webbikeworld.com/fat-duc-o2-manipulator/
BREN TUNING are looking for a 1260 mule bike to test their hand held tuner, can anyone go to their east coast shop? https://brentuningmoto.com/motorcycle/ducati-multistrada-16/ 138 Milford St, Upton, MA 01568
Spoke to CJS, they do a custom remap to both cylinders, throttle balance and dyno. 'This fixes them up' is what he quoted - That'll ding dang do for me, take my money!
