The Dreaded Question...

  1. Good evening all,

My bike storage situation has changed and this means that I need to part ways with my Hypermotard 939 SP by end of this month. I need to sell it rather quickly but have no idea what it's worth - it is due the 5yr belt service so I need to factor this into the valuation (I did want to get it serviced beforehand but my local dealer is booked up until mid-July). The bike has covered 7,300 miles and was registered in July 2016. The local dealer offered £7k (caveat being that this was the maximum I would receive and was quoted blindly) - I've not seen many up for sale, and so valuing is quite challenging but I'm thinking it can't be worth below £7.5k? Any feedback greatly received.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Tom

  2. Is this a for sale thread?

Nope, just hoping someone could give me an idea of its worth.

    Cheers,

  6. If your thinking of selling via the forum you will need to subscribe and place in the for sale section :)

  7. WBAB is the value. Anoth*ng over is wishful thinking and skilful ad writing

  8. Hey Ducbird,

To be totally honest, I hadn't thought about selling here (sorry!) but am happy to create a 'For Sale' post, I just wanted to gauge as to its estimated worth before I officially put it on sale.

    Many thanks,

    Tom

  13. Maybe advertise it for £7995 on ebay / carandclassic etc and see how you get on with any near offers.

  14. eBay here
    Autotrader here
    MCN here

We buy any bike are awful, I've twice got a quote from them and they just aren't any good in my opinion. They offered me £7,500 for my S1000XR and I sold it privately for over £11k...

A dealer will want to make at least 10-15% from the sale if you do a commission / sale or return, and probably a decent wedge more if they buy it from you.

  15. Yeah, once its fully serviced with new rubber and an MOT ...

  16. In that case skip the service & tires and take the cheque for £7k.

  17. Bit harsh, I know MotoCubo are a bit optimistic with their pricing but they have one with higher miles for considerably more.

Woods have this one with a few more miles still for a decent chunk more...

    Thank you :)

  19. Not sure that’s correct, mates just sold his BMW S1000, WBAB £7200 he realised £8600.

  20. Thank you - I'm tempted to put it on an auction with a starting price of £7.5k (taking the lack of belt service into consideration)
