Being a Ducati owner is like being a battered husband. It's an abusive relationship in which we constantly make excuses for their unreliability on the basis that they are beautiful, and anyway, it was kind of my fault for not having her serviced more regularly but she's promised that if I take her out for a nice belt and valve job and make her feel like a lady that she won't let me down again.
once i found the intermittant fault that came with the fugly, both mine have been incredably reliable over the 30k they have covered.
i tell them what they do and dont like. but i also instinctivly looked over my shoulder before i typed that. feck knows why, i am doon here and she is 30mls up the road
I think that’s true about ingrained bias. I felt very sorry for Liam Neesom who was trying to explain that and was dumped by Hollywood for admitting to anti Protestant bias growing up in Ballymena. I have been to Ballymena and it’s a very anti catholic place. No wonder he felt like that. it takes a bit of thinking to realise and to recognise that a change from your first reaction is required.
I would say some Celtic supporters can be just as bad but I don’t think. I get embarrassed with all the booing of British soldiers. I don’t think you can say Celtic and Rangers as clubs are equivalent. Celtic have never had a policy of only signing Catholics and not signing Protestants. Our top three heroes are Stein Dalgleish Larsson none Catholic Celtic also have a long history of Being discriminated against by the powers That control Scottish football. Eg Celtic gave the SFA £30k to upgrade Hampden. They put a roof on the Rangers end Leaving the Celtic end open. Jim Farry forced to resign after being caught deliberately delaying a player registration so a player could not play against Rangers Hugh Dallas being forced to resign for sending anti catholic emails
When it comes to instant reaction, I surprised myself last November. I walked into my local train station on the edge of London and there was a guy standing there, tall, mid 50’s, moustache, bowler hat, suit, tie, rain coat. All that was missing was the sash. But he was selling poppies, so soldiers. I took one look at him and walked away with a bit of fear. Because when I was a kid I would see people like that, thousands of them marching down the road playing songs about wanting to kill me or force me out of my country. You can’t switch that off. It’s absolutely ingrained. I contacted a friend about it who is Jewish and he understood it immediately and he says he has the same reaction triggered by Nazi images. He went on to say there is a theory it can be passed on through the generations. His family fled Nazi Germany.
Perhaps so. If I were him and I saw all the deprivation surrounding me in my home country, I would refuse to add literally millions in extra costs to the countries depleted coffers. Especially as I had a choice of guarded mansions to live in already provided.
Dont you think poverty is a political choice? All that “no magic money tree” guff which turned out to be a real thing when May had to bribe the DUP. Or to afford Brexit or to pay for Covid.
The supply of money is potentially only limited by the governments desire to print it. That said in the end the world financial position will require the borrowing to be resolved or Britain becomes financially akin to Greece or Portugal - not the end of the world but not ideal either. Still that has little to do with Winsdor-Mountbattens. What is within their control is the amount of public money they need to supplement their extravagant lives. When turning up to ask for money for charities having held a £45million wedding, or flown by private jet to 12+ countries to visit poor children, it makes me wonder what their motives really are? If they had got married relatively quietly, they could have funded the military Paralympic athletes for the next five decades! Or perhaps their security team to look after them for the rest of their lives where ever they decide to live? I suppose another alternative is that they are totally stupid and don't understand what they are really doing? Or perhaps they think you and I are?
Not checked this thread for ages. who the fuck voted yes Deary me spud from Train Spotting would be more trust worthy
I can honestly say I’ve never watched it. But with Andrew Neil as anchor, I didn’t think you’d approve
The female anchor. Or woman anchor. Or perhaps just W. Anchor said, without a hint of irony to her audience of Daily Mail readers and Brexit voters: “I do think that people should have agency….but I also think that perhaps people don’t understand things”
When introducing the channel in its first show, Andrew Neil said the channel would “…cover the stories that matter to you and those that have been neglected”. Awww…. ”neglected”. That tugs at my heart strings almost as much as the RSPCA advert with all the abandoned dogs in it. I’ve been saying for years that all these angry middle-aged guys just need a few more friends and a hug every now and again. Many a true word spoken in jest….
the brillo and "outsider" has enough friends. tho i wonder if a quisling actually knows or even cares that his friends are not realy his friends. i gave it a go. i cant emagine i will be back. dullsvile. andrew niel? meh, i no longer pay his wages so again, meh. tho i guess if he can continue to stirr up the gammon there may well be a price to be payed sooner or later. and the upshot being, every time he opens his gob in the internet age he only strengthens the resolve of those that oppose the gammon.
