Four eyes

  1. I'm sure there is plenty of us out there that wear glasses be it long or short sighted who find it difficult to wear glasses whilst riding your bike, the riding position on my bike means that I just look over the top of them and get periods of clear then fuzzy vision,so in the end I either get Dennis Taylor glasses or don't bother, which got me thinking and don't laugh, but how about a prescription visor, not sure if these exist but I would think it would be a great idea,oh and if I see anyone on the next series of dragons den with this idea I won't be happy

  2. Do you have a prescription screen on your PC/laptop/tablet?

  3. Goggles and glasses, but think visors cany because of curvature

  4. No but I have prescription sun glasses so just an arai version of them would be great

  5. I normally wear glasses for work and everyday use but sometimes I wear contact lenses, particularly when on the bike......with ESS ICE dark ballistic glasses under the helmet.

.....trouble is, because I am short sighted, my contact lenses are for distance/driving/shooting.....

.....so if I want to read anything I have to put on a pair of reading glasses...........how daft is that?

When I go to pay for petrol with helmet and sunglasses on, its almost impossible to see the d*mn pin number machine.

    I really need a bi-focal visor.

  6. Without sounding like a wimp I have tried contacts but they made my eyes feel really tired if that makes sense, road signs are a problem but mainly I need to see if the Feds are behind me

  7. What contact lenses have you tried and how recently? Some of the daily ones are now super thin.

I wear weekly ones and take them out at night, making them fortnightly ones, which I probably end up wearing for a month to be honest. They are so comfortable that sometimes I have to check if I have taken them out at night: if everything is in focus, I haven't.

If I had to have reading glasses, I'd get corrective eye laser surgery. But there is no point as currently, I don't. If I had the surgery, then it would be like permanently wearing lenses which would make reading more difficult. They've just given me a weaker lens in one eye, so I read with one and see distance with the other - not that I notice.

  8. I wear gas permeable contact lenses........got used to them years ago.............one pair lasts for about two years.............never have a problem with them............

..........until I get a half brick behind one.

I can't have laser surgery........prescription is too bad................but I can go under the knife and have new lenses, but it still may not be the answer to not wearing glasses.........

......I'm fortunate for knowledge in this area.........my neighbour is a highly respected eye surgeon (Him and his wife wear glasses...........so that should tell you something).

  9. It's about 5 years since I used contact lenses so it might be time to give them another try unless prescription visors do exist

  10. Can't stand wearing glasses on a bike. Around the corners one eye sees past the glasses - everything is blurred. The other sees with a frame right down the middle. I have no idea who people deal with it.

If ever there was a reason to try contact lenses, biking is it.

  12. Right that settles it then ,we are getting together and pitching prescription visors to the dragons, obviously I would want a bigger percentage it being my idea and that

  13. I used to wear glasses or contact lenses on the bike, but have now had the lenses in my eyes removed and replaced with multifocal lenses, meaning no more glasses. It's much better.

  14. I think the word you were after is dangerous, not annoying...

  15. I had my eyes lasered 10 years ago now, I was so short sighted that to read a book without glasses meant bringing it to 6 inches from my face! I now have a right eye corrected for long sight, and the left which was altered to move the reading distance to about 18 inches. My brain then had to retrain itself to balance the two, which took about 6 months, but it has been brilliant! I can recommend this as a cure, provided your prescription allows it.

  16. for glasses steaming up try the optifog coating from a company called Essilor..guaranteed not to steam up
most opticians have access to it
for contact lens wearers have a look at nocturnel lenses...this lenses is worn overnight, then removed in the morning , and reshapes the cornea to a shape that gives you no prescription so you have normal vision thru the day ..not for every one tho
again you optician should keep you right

  17. When you are choosing new glasses, do you choose those ones with tiny little frames of a silly shape? And a designer label? Not me, I want the largest lenses covering the maximum field of vision. They may not be pretty, but they work.

  18. Thanks to contacts, I can't remember the last time I wore glasses on a bike.

I wear my glasses very infrequently - only when my eyes are ultra tired, or on a plane, or if I have an infection of some sort.

My contact lenses are, without a shadow of a doubt, the best product I have ever bought. They would be my desert island luxury.

  19. I wear contacts when i want to have fun on the bike, glasses for just a potter across town. Prescription visors sounds really interesting but imagine how big your face would look to cars coming the other way!
And imagine lending a spare helmet to someone and having them getting headaches all the time or crashing as a 60 foot tall truck comes towards them!
