V4 Multistrada V4s Possible Fueling Issue

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by johnny, May 24, 2021.

  1. Anyone else feel some possible issues. I “think” there is some kangaroo juice at 3 to 4.5 K RPM. This appears more to me in any of the lower than max power modes. Also some possible issues when down to 25MPG range

  2. Iv not had anything like that happen

  3. I took one out for a test ride last week and experienced exactly what you say. Not major but a slight on/off hesitancy with the throttle around 4k rpm.

There's a fella on youtube done 8000 miles on his now and has had the same problems. iirc correctly he mentions it in this video.

I would hope it's a mapping issue that can be fixed with a software update but am interested to hear others views/experiences.

  4. Mine is an S Sport, just taken it after engine swap. No such issues so far, seems bang on. Only 160 miles in, will drop back if anything changes. Dealer demo also spot on. Fuelling seemed a real strong point to me.

  5. Without wanting to hijack the thread, those that have bought, how amenable was your dealer to discounts off list ?

  6. 200 odd Quid Paul, not much.

  7. It has been suggesed elsewhere that this is caused by the Exup valve in the exhaust, and a Healtech servo eliminator may help. I can't see on for my bike yet but i should think they maybe the same across the multi range.
I shall have a nose. Any pointers to the location would help

  8. Might wanna try some better gas\petrol > Chervon\Mobil

The factory AFR is probably very lean at those around-town rpms.

  9. Surely, if you add that Johnny, you’ll void the warranty on the bike, or at least give them a way out should anything untoward happen in the next 4 years.

  10. Yep my thoughts too, maybe I have to live with it, it aint so bad.

  11. Which lets be honest, is ludicrous for a bike that costs north of £15k for the base model and £18k for the S

  12. If the exhaust valve is anything like the one on the 1260 Mutley then it'll probably sieze in a few thousand miles anyway. My dealer didn't bat an eye when I disconnected mine, wired it open and fitted the Healtech eliminator. The eliminator just mimics the electrical characteristics of the servo preventing ECU thinking that there's an error and lighting up the engine management light.

  13. V4 no longer uses an exhaust valve.

  14. That shall do it ! Any thoughts to cause nelly?

And yes for a bike at half this price it would be silly. I think Ducati were the first to do fuel injection and the last to get it right. Never ridden a Duke without some fuel issue
