As I currently weigh about 117kg without gear, a 9kg reduction in (dry) weight is lost in the noise Andy
Spy shots have been around for ages, specs exactly as leaked. Given I've got the standard Gen3 do I think this is worth £21.5K No.... 9Kg is no mean feat but most of that is battery and wheels, carbon I couldn't care less about and the exhaust is possibly the worst slip on currently available for the Gen3 which I think alone is £1500. The best bit for me is the updated seat unit, well undertray and cowl and number plate hanger (as that has the brake light in). But considering I need to take the other half on the back of mine it's a no go anyways. I'm sure it will be an absolute weapon, more of an exercise from KTM I think, if Ducati etc can charge £20K plus why can't they?
Yeah I rode the KTM SD 1290R a few weeks ago, one word “ BONKERS” totally blew me away! Definitely was expecting it to be so accomplished So out of the 3 main players I enjoyed this the most The new Triumph 1200R was sublime but fundamentally flawed by some underlying issues. Along with the new Tuono Factory both slightly disappointing really ….. But the KTM Rocks for sure
Are you Telepathic RR is coming in a couple of weeks with the full Akropovic Evolution system. It’s signed sealed but yet to be delivered. I’m literally so excited! But still slightly hesitant about given up the superbikes It will be the perfect replacement for the Pani V4s Corse that will be making a sad departure next week But already planning some more weight loss for the RR! Not much to do other than ride it really. I was fortunate enough to talk with a chap that PDI’d one last week and wanted to get his take on the WP Apex Pro suspension before pulling the trigger. Wasn’t sure how this will translate on the roads, and with no real world road tests available i was a little concerned. But all the feedback was really positive, So my mind is slightly at ease
All your bikes are epic @Dave dunlop and I have no doubt that this will be in the same league as the others. Can't wait to see photos of it pal.
It certainly looks naughty enough...and it's a pretty mega spec! Like most things these days the it's all questionable when it comes to build quality and reliability. But for me I wanted something that was a stand alone naked. Not just another superbike with a different top Yoke and some riser bars. What stood out the most on the standard R version when I test rode it was its ability to feel massively playful, with huge amounts of useful Torque all at more sensible speeds. Even around the nations. Far Beyond that it's just as sharp and crazy. They really have pulled off the impossible do it all machine, that Oozes character in any situation.
Will you lot stop doing this I've been delaying pulling the pin on a gen 3 with full akrapovic for ages, it's been that or the SF V4S. Definitely wouldn't get the RR, better off spending £5k on wheels, exhaust and maybe uprated fork internals imo but I do like the seat unit
I wouldn’t be concerned about going from a Panigale V4S to a SDR. The SDR is cracking fun and there isn’t much in it performance wise. And the SDR is comfortable! As you may know, I’ve got both and I love the SDR. Had a spin over to Cadwell last week and had a swift 3 night sessions. Bloody marvellous fun
