Old enough to remember the 'Sid is innocent' graffiti all over the place...saw the Stranglers at the Drill hall in Lincoln in 1977 0r 78', i think the Pistols were due to appear as well but got banned from playing there - long time ago.
Possibly the best intro ever recorded. The programme has been on a few times before and is quite good. I'm glad it's not just me who's in to the Pistols, it's felt like a pretty lonely place for many years. Nasher.
The Damned were my boys. Did so many ‘firsts’ and never got the recognition they deserved. Must have seen them 30-40 times. I’m still listening now even though they’ve gone a tad ‘green’. I’m still the same bellend I was in the late 70’s I suppose. Birds beer bikes. Not much of the first though.
Music in the 70’s was shiiiite!! That’s why the Sex Pistols were spectacularly successful. It was a massive, and long overdue, kick up the arse to the industry. Good times, good music… and then came Ska, liked a lot of that stuff too
Oww cum my two all time favourite bands are the Damned and Rush Distinctly remember Love Song on ToTP and Spirit of Radio on the wireless. That was that, me future tunaage set in stone.
Seem to recall Phil Collins once saying the likes of Sex Pistols etc were a great thing for the music scene at the time. There was a lot of prog rock crap at the time and Punk shook it up literally, I think he was including Genesis in that. I think a the Jam were one of the best groups to come out if that scene?
A slightly out of focus version is available on You Tube, together with the BBC3 "Blood on the turntables" Doc, also worth a look.
