Rode 615 miles in 9hrs 11mins. 1st hour 40 miles, in mountains. Quiet normal day. Home tomorrow. 10days quarantine. Looking forward to painting the skirting boards! That's exciting.
I had a TVR Griffith 500 years ago and McDonald racing the Morgan dealers looked after it for me. He offered me a tatty one of those for 8k surprisingly they don’t seem to have appreciated in value that much.
Went to the Battle of Britain airshow at Headcorn Kent. 9 spitfires, 2 Dakota’s and a Flying Fortress in formation. Spitfire and ME 109 dogfight. Plus great aerobatic displays, great day out.
The last time i went out in a TVR which was in the nineties i got a wet shoulder and the roof was up.
well that was entertaining, hoofing about in the ruts, potholes, fords, jumps and trail of somewhere in Wales slightly south of the Brecon Beacons on the tops of the moors and in the forests on a triumph tiger 1200 XCA something or other, with less than 600 miles on the clock. pretty hard work, got quite warm on occasions, but some good tuition in off road riding, and if your going to drop a £16k nearly new machine, may as well ensure it is someone elses bike!! pretty much everyone put a bike down at one point or another today, but thats what they said, if its going to go, then look after yourself first. good day, and another one tomorrow. learnt some good skills and good chance to practice some stuff. oh, and yep, c 300 it started drizzling, then raining - it is Wales so no change there there despite it being flaming June!
Said feck it, booked a month in Spain. I'll use it as a base and see where else we can get into, I need to get out of here for a bit. Hopeing to get in to Lisbon for a look around. any suggestions would be welcomed.
I was going to take a walk up the hill to pop in here - https://ymsf.net/lineup But at those prices I don’t think I will bother
The Monsters Exhaust arrived from the coaters today, so removed the old headers and pipes, servo motor. Fitted the new pipes, ceramic coated in satin black. I removed the guts from the valve and ground off the outside pipe dross, got a piece of 304 stainless pipe and made a split sleeve. took the pipe down to a local exhaust shop and they TIG welded it on for £20. before and after photos below
A much better day today winding the clock back to 1998 modifing metal gates for somebody this morning and then onto the pub for a few beers
Hmmm... not a great day. Lost my favourite sun glasses, filled up with Esso Supreme+, then stopped for a coffee and got back to petrol p&ssing out the filler, down the side of the bike. Ruined the PPF on the tank side and side of seat unit... :-( rode home while getting my nadgers soaked in Esso's finest (which btw burns skin on contact!), parked up, ran inside while removing jeans and pants and ran through the house half-naked to slosh cold water over my now really hot sore bits...! Had better days...
thought i'd give Mr Waters a go on Sky Arts - starting now (Us and Them). Plenty retro Glastonbury available also on Beeb - might catch Chemical Brothers later.
A pair of old driveway gates shorten down and welded together for one sliding gate, yes i'd enjoy the task but what a dirty black job it was too, at least i got paid as a round of drinks were just under the £15 mark.
Head for any mountains, there are lots of them, Spain is the 2nd most mountainous country in Europe. Huge amount of great roads and places to stay. Don’t book ahead just book on the day…That is if you’re riding a bike… which I just figured you might not be. You could always hire one in Spain or Portugal. Duero Valley Portugal is a must. Lisbon and Casais definitely worth a visit. Loads and loads of fantastic old cities worth a visit in Spain.
Scrubbed in a new back tyre on the Ninja 1000Sx 4 days away next week with the lads, ..ride all day, ..evening curry,.. beers, ..talk bollox, ..laugh like drains Bloody heaven
