To be fair I would have paid that for a one owner from new bike with 10k on it and original wheels & zorsts spare.
Ah, thanks WCP, I'll enjoy reading that. I wish I had the cash hanging around for it, I've wanted one for a very long time.
Are you speaking about the concept or the connection with Ducati,? my understanding's Spondon the frame specialist realised there was a market for aftermarket frames as the factory stock ones weren't upto the job.
As XH558 said, Spondon were in Derby and started making frames from the around the 1960’s. IIRC, their forte was in the early Japanese imports but pretty sure I remember British engines being put in Spondon frames for racing. It’s so long ago, not sure my memory is that reliable. Andy

"A very special bike that needs to be appreciated" That is why I can't even be fooked to take it out into the daylight to take and show you a decent photographs!
don't get me wrong, it's lovely but does it really need an arse like that? "does my seat fairing look big in this?"
Isn't/Wasn't the whole Spondon thing with Ducati a bit stupid? Back in the day, you had powerful jap bikes that didn't handle and so a Spondon frame made sense, coz you would end up with a fast, powerful bike (for the day) that would handle. That was never was the case with Ducati - always handled well and weren't that fast..
I see what you're saying Perry, but, for me, i'm glad Spondon stepped in and put a different slant on things, their approach just made the brand more interesting.
Big boxy arse was the thing back then, look at the Jap bikes of the era. It continued in volume but changed to curves as time passed. Was peak big round arse the Suzuki SRAD1000?
Massimo Bordi apparently didn't think so Perry, and out of it came the single side s/arm so perhaps less stupid than you thought?
Wots the SSSA connection with Spondon? But, although the SSSA is supposed to be heavier than a conventional swinging arm, having had one on my last two Monsters, it is flipping convenient - and looks cool!
Here read this http://sportsvalve.com/blog/a-closer-look-at-the-spondon-ducati/ and google Spondon Ducati. There's a lot more to this than you might realise?.
