I was seriously considering bailing out the V4 and doing precisely that But swore the V4 would be my last full on sports bike! Sadly I made the wrong decision kept going over in my mind before dismantling the 959 and already committed to the V4. Don’t get me wrong the V4 is totally nuts, and it’s been a pleasure working on it and obviously riding. But it’s just way way too much as a road bike... Still love riding the thing But got smiles per mile on the 959. Still might be going down the Streetfighter route..... So many parts will transition over
I've been round to a mate's today who is using these OZ gass wheels, forged aluminium, in anodised titanium on a special he is building & I can tell you they look luverly They have a machined finish & just look a million dollars. I'd love a pair for my 750SS !!
I've just ordered a set of Oz Gass wheels upgraded Brembo disks and abs discs from HPS for my multi. Was a close call between Ti and gold and both look amazing, but going for the Ti. Just need to find a good tyre fitter to swap the rubbers over as mine are still fairly new. Do you think I should get my local dealership to do this ? Just wondering if they would be a bit more careful ?
IMO, you need to find a motorcycle tyre fitting specialist. The one I use has an array of nylon rim protectors and the bead breaker is wrapped to prevent accidental metal to metal contact. The one fitter is always happy for the customer to watch him do the job, more driven by the instances dodgy claims of damage than anything else. Andy
The chap who fits mine goes round it with you before he places it on the machine there then can be not false claims.
Sad that it has come to that although I have come across one or two tyre fitters locally who I would describe as less than skilled. Andy
Alas the likelihood of them saying ‘sorry guv I’ve damaged your rim’ is zero. Steph at tyres r us (wears a Stetson and Spurs) caused loads to mine and said nothing and didn’t want to know when I mentioned it
It works both ways with this, for me it’s better than both parties inspect the rim prior to fitting. I don’t always see everything when checking for chips he may spot something that I don’t. Now I have a tyre machine I do my own, so it’s on me 100%.
