I’m looking for a decent, reliable replacement spark plugs to use to replace the standard Ducati ones, not bothered about price. what are peoples ideas ??
I think there are some pretty good ones that only last 100 miles at £1000 each. Won't worry you, though, as you're not bothered about price. I will investigate if I still have the link....
The workshop manual says NGK MAR10A-J, granted the 9 is only one step hotter and would probably work fine. The OP has a 950 in his profile but has posted this Q with a 1260 flag... Maybe some clarity needed. The NGK Iridium plugs are usually good for 25,000+ miles but Ducati mention changing them at 9,000 miles.
Good call. And yes it's sounds like a definitive on the model would be helpful. I just looked on NGK's website and that's what was listed. For the 1260 they don't list a platinum or iridium alternative, which I found surprising. Even the platinum plugs outlast the copper cored plugs by some margin. A good investment.
The manual seems to contradict all other info out there that seems to indicate that, as you've stated, the MAR9A-J is the one to use. Over on ducati.org someone has fitted iridium plugs to a 1098 in place of these.
That link makes for an interesting read. CR10EIX or CR9EIX then. I'd want to line them up to check the length, as there's a reference to a slight difference but otherwise it seems like a no brainer. Cheaper as well..
In that case you'll need to contact the admins to get that changed. Unless there's been something done since I last moved to a new bike, they need to edit that bit of your profile.
Apologies for the re asking the same question but….. was the consensus that the NGK MAR10a be a better replacement plug for a 1260 ??? thanks
