  2. What are you guys adding to water for electrolytes? I'm currently using Lucozade Sport or Poweraid drinks but there must be a bulk purchase option for some kind of electrolyte additive that I don't know about.

  3. I have no idea what's essential apart from water, I think it did come up on this thread or another somewhere. I'm up on Zinc, Vit B, C and D today.

  4. Sodium, potassium and magnesium, mainly. They help the body hydrate far better than plain water.

Also, electrolytes are essential for life. If you drink too much water you can actually die (as a few people did when the Nintendo Wii came out and there were stupid radio competitions to win one by drinking as much water as you could in a day). Electrolytes are to do with distributing electrical energy through the body. As you sweat, you lose them. First thing to go is concentration, then fatigue creeps in and can result in blindness if not treated. If you dilute them too much (to extremes) it's very dangerous.

  5. I was just thinking over your possible reply and I am massively up on sodium nearly all the time and will probably be my downfall eventually. I have had some of the other two in the past but don’t think I have any in stock at present, will be interesting to hear what others have to say.

  6. I use High 5 Zero tablets.

  8. You’ve just reminded me of when we were kids. My best mate and me decided to have a water drinking contest. About 15 years old and oblivious to the danger.

We used a one pint milk bottle. Me, then him, me, then him and so on. I got to 8 pints and spewed it all out. Then he did exactly the same…. It was a draw!!

  9. I use normal tap water in the bladder on my back and mix cordial and boots own version of dioralyte sachet mixed in a bottle, the sort of stuff you have with the shits but only when it's hot. Most of the time water and cordial.

A can of coke works well with sugars whilst out

Yazoo chocolate drink is an excellent recovery post ride drink.

  15. Whyte frames are lovely - always a smooth ride and pretty relaxed downhill no matter how steep the hill.... mostly! :)

  19. Another big saturday ride out. 40 miles of off road that had bridleways, canal towpath and old t'railway. Good day for riding though, it's cooled somewhat....
