Is Bike Not Roadworthy Now - Mot Testers Input Required

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by RC1, Aug 2, 2021.

  1. So one of the rear indicator lenses fell off and i cannot get one soon as they are on back order. Does this mine my bike is not roadworthy and i have to postpone my bikesafe which is scheduled for this sunday?

  2. You should be able to get an orange bulb for it from Halfords for starters, it will need @cookster to clarify whether it needs a cover or not..
Not pretty but I would todge it up with sellotape and an orange felt tip rather than miss out on your day.

  3. Sellotape it back.
As long as it is secure and showing amber you’ll be fine for an MOT test.

  4. If they're installed they must be in working order.

  5. yeah as long as its amber it dont matter if its covered or not

  6. You can probably get sticky back translucent orange plastic at Halfrauds or Amazon which is sold as emergency repair kit.

  7. would be the easiest solution if possible but the indicator lense has gone and replacement isn't easy.

  8. I’ve got a pair off a 2020Supersport in the garage that you can borrow if it’ll fit to help out, I’m on the the Ox / Bucks border

  9. ‘Sorry officer it was there when I left’

  10. Remove all the indicators , if they're not fitted it should still pass?

  11. But that means hand signals. The only one that I know involves one upright finger

  12. Mind you:, that signal works OK if the indicators are working fine....

  13. What's the law if you remove the separate rear indicators and tape over the integrated front ones? Would that be enough to pass an mot (my rear one don't work properly)?

  14. all sorted thanks all

  16. From my last MOT you can’t simply blank indicators out these days and my understanding is on the road if fitted they must be fully functioning and not taped out.

    Happy to be corrected.

  17. Thanks Ducatiscud - I am sure you are right but I hope you are wrong!

  18. if you tape all lights up you dont need indicators, some bikes ie enduro bikes/off roaders can be mot'd with out them, this is where the mot system has a "grey area"

  19. Thanks cookster, I have a multi 1200 so could I remove the rear indicators and tape up the front ones on the hand guards and get an mot?

  20. you'd have to tape up all the lights mate
