1199 R History Enquiry

  1. Can one of the Ducati Literati help? I know the difference between an 1199R and a Panigale R, but thought the change came about in 2015. I’ve seen 1199Rs registered as 2016 models yet my R is from 2015 … is this just due to dealers registering old stock later?

  2. The Ducati web site has the last 1199R manufactured in 2014 and the first Panigale R manufactured in 2015. As is often with model change over years, the outgoing model hangs around and will still be for sale in the first year of the new model. If you have seen an 1199R on a 16 plate, no reason it couldn’t have been old stock but I’d be inclined to think that was unregistered at point of sale and went straight in to someone’s lounge. 8. Thanks, but have one now
I keep my eye out to see how well/badly they’re doing, and was puzzled by the date letter discrepancy.
