With Ducati, the fit and finish of their bikes look even better when the bodywork is removed exposing all the engineering and design don't you think ?
R owner here! Not been on here for quite a while. I’ve done almost 10k on my R, it gets used properly! had it since March 2019. Full Akra fitted at pdi, did the TT on it in the same year. It’s immense and next level to the already amazing S (had one of those in 2018 and did 5k on that (including the TT that year). I run a Rosso Corsa II rear now as fed of barely getting 700 miles out of a SuperCorsa! Can get 2.5k out of the Rosso. I’m on my 4th clutch now, as get just under 3k out of a clutch pack :/
Rosso Corsa 2 are great tires, unless you tracking it, no reason to use Supercorsas. Interesting to hear about the clutch. Could you explain what are the symptoms when it wears out ?
Ross Corsa II are fine for the road, they just move around a little bit more when you really push it. Failing clutch is noticeable revs rising without expected drive etc, clutch slip in 5th and 6th above 10k when WOT! have to go easy on it to manage it to get myself home, noticed a bit of slip if 4th after a while too. Also had a new clutch basket and hub fitted with the 4th clutch pack as it was fooked, I had filed it a bit when the 3rd clutch pack was fitted. I have got a couple of the clutch packs from Moto Rapido which where so much better than the ducabike one!
Interesting. I'm tracking V4R, the bike probably did 5 Euros, so 15 days. Havent noticed any issues with clutch yet. But I hear from many people that this can happen. Also got advised to change clutch plate springs (?) to stiffer version. That helps with stability of the bike and improves engine braking on track. Yet to do it.
I'm more in need of a shotgun as the scrotes have just stolen my new-to-me V4R, and in the process found and disabled the Biketrac tracker within 18 minutes of taking the bike. Looks like the last of see of that...after a whole 479 miles. Not happy.
Fuсk man, this is awful. I had BMW that got almost stolen, thieves managed to break the steering and disc lock, carried the bike for 50 meters but alarm went off and helpful neighbors called the police. They dropped the bike on the ground. The bike was totalled as frame was damaged around steering nut, insurance got me a new bike
There is a new version of the clutch basket available from Ducati with what is described as a hard anodised finish .
Fuck sake. That’s annoying Obviously knew what they were doing. Hope you get sorted without the all too common insurance hassle. I was intensely interviewed by an underwriters rep when mine got nicked…
Mine was replaced in May and I still got the old basket. Also the anodized basket is more expensive that’s probably why as it was a warranty repair on mine. Being STM makes these baskets they are anodized from them when u buy a replacement. For some reason they are not when Ducati buys them from STM, probably to cut down on cost is all I can come up with.
