What’s everyone’s thoughts in regards to decent crash protection please? Are R&G still the best option? The main protectors seem a bit pricey for what they are!
I've got the engine/clutch covers for my V2 with the slider attached and seems decent. I won't have any bobbins, but depends on use. I also have tank sliders which are good. Can't complain.
Already have GB Moto engine case covers fitted when I purchased it, will probably leave them on for know. Tank sliders and rear fairing sliders seem a good idea
Clutch and engine covers plus rear bobbins and spindles. I got some larger cf tank covers from Italy as the R&G ones are quite far back and don’t offer much protection imho. On my 675 Daytona I have R&g tank sliders and they do work well as tested a few weeks back at Snetterton. Edit. The Evotech brake guard appears substantial enough to offer some protection as well.
Will take a look at the CF tank covers (may save wrapping the tank) I’ve fitted Oxford Products brake and clutch guards. They where horrendous to fit and I would not recommend them to anyone.
I lowsided my 1299 with the GB racing engine covers fitted, and DP fork Axle protector... they picked up most of the damage and other then a replacement left hand handlebar, the only critical damage was the lock stops (which are made of cheese ..)
The GB Racing kit looks better imo. I dont like R&G stuff, my experience of their stuff is that generally it falls to bits, peels off, burns down and sinks into the swamp. The GB kit doesnt. R&G tank grips, useless. EaziGrip pads are so much better.
Despite having R&G on the Pani I agree with this. I have GB (mainly) on Daytona and it feels better quality. I have tested it and it holds up. Problem is for the Pani the GB range seems a bit more limited. The tank grips are pants, they peel.
Stomp grips are the best grips I've used. I also thought the R&G grips were actually EaziGrip with their brand (R&G) on the little button thing, could be wrong, but sure I saw that somewhere . For crash protection, GB Racing I agree look better and have good protection. I've seen plenty of bikes using both have no issues standing up to the ultimate test of a crash so in terms of doing the job, they both do it well. Other stuff like tail tidys etc is a bit different and I don't think the R&G quality is as good as other brands such as Evotech.
I tried storm grips too. They peeled. Eazigrip stick like the proverbial. BTW peeps, you can buy that black stair edge tape from anywhere cheap as chips. Its about 3"-4" wide. Its handy to make a template and stick some over the top slopey edge of the side plastics on the subframe just by the inside of your thighs.
Have you a link to the correct page. I’ve looked around the JHP website using the drop down boxes for the 1299 and the only crash protection shown is a carbon genny casing
I have fitted some EaziGrips. They work well enough but I am a tad disappointed that I purchased the clear version, I think black would be much more visually appealing
I fitted Spider front spindle protectors to my V4, https://www.spiderracing.it/categoria-prodotto/ducati-panigale-1299/page/3/, page 4 has the right hand side. Absolutely no idea why they are not listed as a pair. UK importer, https://www.motorcycleraceparts.co.uk/. Andy
You'd be best just to give their parts department a call, they're about £20 for a pair or they were pre-covid anyways.
