Whars The Difference In Ducati 916 And St4 Fuel Assembly

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by maxwan, Aug 18, 2021.

  1. Hi all . Looking for some help in distinguishing the difference in ducati 916 and st4 fuel assembly.
Any help would be much appreciated

  2. I had a quick look but cannot say definitively if interchangeable, I hope someone sees your thread and can confirm one way or the other.

  3. Internally & externally they are slightly different.

    Why the question?

  4. Thanks Chris and Paul .
I have a used one from off the eBay and just got round to fitting but it's different from my original.
    Think I've been sold a st4 .
Do you know if it would it still work?

  5. If it actually fits and seals (ie doesn’t leak fuel from the flange/tank seal) and the electrical connections to it are the same (95% they are) and the flow & return pipes can be connected then yes, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work.

But what was the issue with the original one? And do you have a 916 or ST4?

  6. Hi Paul . Nothing wrong with my tank . Just that I purchased a whole plastic fairing and tank during lockdown , so I can remove the original for safe keeping . The tank didn't come with a fuel assembly. So I got one off eBay and that's when I noticed that it's different but advertised as a 916 assembly.

  9. Both variants of the ST4 and the 916 use the same injector so by default the fuel pump should be rated to the same pressure.

As Paul said if it fits it'll work.

  10. The fittings for the feed and return pipes are the same thread for both bikes. Went through this with my 998S.
