Just did a lateral flow test for our return flight tomorrow with the test kit we brought with us from the UK only to find out it is NOT VALID Buried in the small print is an exclusion. Upshot, you need to organise a Fit to Fly/Sail/Travel in the country you are on holiday in. Budget a minimum €50 each Andy
Got to U.K. from amber country 2 weeks back. My self PCR test was £79 iirc. And don’t forget your vaccination certificate download from NHS app. Fucking ball ache…
The FTF test is best done at the airport. Pisa Parkingo, pre-book, E40, result in five minutes. Easyjet gate crew did then insist the result was in english, but I managed to persuade the Italian crew member that "negativo" was probably "negative" in English. Charm won the day.
I'm going a week Saturday week to Jerez, the organiser has sorted fit to fly test at the circuit on the tuesday and we leave thursday, then I'm getting a UK PCR delivered to my house for my day 2 return. Is this not aligned to your understanding?
I understood before we left, a UK purchased Antigen self RFT was acceptable. Tried to register the result from Barcelona and the UK web site said No. Your organiser knows better than me. Andy
The not so free country, when fully vaccinated rules apply ! Even travel from Green countries (which always meant GO by my understanding..) requires the test to return. It is your responsibility to make sure the test complies with current regulations. On the plus side, if fully vaccinated, day two test on return does not restrict movement. Looks suspiciously like a money spinner.
If double jabbed and going to an amber country you treat it no different to a green list country So for Greece (where I am) they don't require any inward test, other countries may differ so check, but with Greece just a form filled in (PLF) and proof of two vacations (neither were asked for at passport control when we landed We ordered lateral flow test to take with us, do those within 72 hours before your return to UK flight, upload your negative result within that 72 hours and the supplying firm should issue you an email confirming your negative results.....fill in the passenger location UK government form before flying home and board your flight Same company that sent us the lateral flow to bring with us will be delivering a pcr test the day we land and we do that within 48 hours
Travelling outbound to countries differs. If you’re returning to U.K. from an amber list country, it goes like this…. Receive a negative PCR test result within a 72 hour period prior to entering the U.K. This is your fit to fly thing. You must also show proof of purchase of your day 2 PCR test (day 2 AND 8 if you’re NOT double vaccinated, traceable by NHS app). You enter your test kit reference number on your passenger locator form. If you’re U.K. double jabbed, no need to isolate. But do your PCR test on day 2. You have to register and activate your kit online (I use Prenetics, they seem quite reliable) then post it off. Your results should be back within 48 hours. If you’re not double jabbed you’ll need a day 2 and 8 test kit. And you’ll need to self isolate for 10 days. And the fuckers call you every day.
What was the problem with the lateral flow test that meant it wasn’t valid? We are due to go to Spain shortly and have also bought a lateral flow test to take with us.
No bradders, it's because there's a pandemic on and we must all keep each other safe.....stay safe..... Data gathering, emergency laws moved to the permanent list, ID card's (lovingly called vaccination certificates) and masses and masses of money made off the back of it. Just ask out Cheif Scientific Advisor how his pre covid £600k shares in GSK are going Stay safe though...it's for our own good
I sent my day 2 test back to the test company....never got a result. No one ever asked for it either. Might try using same day 2 test number on my next UK PLF.....
My wife wonders why this winds me up so much. Like most, just doesn’t get the steps this is leading to. Another March towards the world of fewer owning more while we ‘rent’ everything for our whole lives to keep us worker bees plodding away and paying for everything
Here we go again..... yawn On Thread, will let others know what happens ref testing, I tried to order my Day 2 kit last week and it told me I couldn't because it was outside of 15 days before I return, not quite sure why that is unless it's as some have indicated because the certifications seem to be changing on which companies can offer them. So I guess I'll order it next week before I go, and do my passenger locator form etc as and when needed, it's just paperwork I guess, the biggest issue is as the OP said, if you get messed around suddenly being told your test isn't valid. We are flying with RyanAir also so you can guarantee that if I need one at the airport they will bleed me for it
Anyone else get the rage on when people in customer service say “stay safe” for literally no reason Makes me want to headbutt them down the phone
Not entirely certain but the lateral flow tests are not accurate according to reports I’ve read. The full PCR tests are preferable to federal authorities.
