They only feel hot if you’re sat in traffic in town for long periods of time. And if you just ride through towns on a sports bike of any type then you really shouldn’t have a sports bike.
As a road rider mine has yet to get unbearably hot, It gets hot at times when stuck at lights on a hot day but nothing that bothers me.
If one was to venture into Bristol, to visit Fowlers or Riders, one can't help but ride slow. Bristol is big on 20 mph limits and speed cameras. That is my only worry as there is none of that crap where I live. I think that even the M32 has a 30 mph limit in places and does go 20mph at the end. Nobody told the council weirdos that it is a motorway.
Some people on here started having a pop, when I posted I was looking for a 1198 with low miles on it. Why would I want something that had been battered , when there are virgins/garage queens out there . I've looked after, and used properly, all the bikes I've owned. But I can't think of one that was as fit at 15k miles as it was at 5k.
I've simply got to disagree with this El Toro, there are posts all over the place about Euro 5 bikes running super hot, my 'town ride' is 7 sets of lights off the dual carriageway into my housing estate and by the 2nd set you could barely sit on the bike. I let my mate ride it back and I rode his 748 and he got off and said he wasn't riding it anymore. When I asked MotoRapido, Wilf told me they run significantly hotter than previous bikes, and made the point that this is why they don't put temprature guages in cars anymore, because if people saw how hot they were running, and how hot the exhaust temps were they would freak out. I rode with my mate when he had his 899, he was litterally following me on a 30-40 mile blast and his bike was running an average of 15 degree's cooler. I never saw my 899 over 100 degrees, my V2 was over 100 Degrees all the time at less than 60mph road speed and I was told this was absolutely normal. Fair play to you for having teflon legs, but there's enough posts around about panigale heat issues that it's not just me..
Well,…I have a confession to make,… I’m one of those weird ba@#ards that actually buys a bike and uses it it doesn’t sit unused in the garage for months, what’s the point of buying one and not using it ?? I bought it new in 2014 cash on the dot, bollocks to pcps, and I have loved every ride on it, Germany tours, long weekends in Wales and Scotland every year and 200 miles plus weekend blasts with the boys most weekends. I’ve also turned it into my own take on an “S” model with the K-tech dds pro shock and BST carbon wheels and a few other mods, wish I’d done this years ago… I’m absolutely anal with maintenance and cleaning of the bike, it’s been dealer serviced from new and I also do an interim oil and filter change myself between services. So,..as I said, no “ garage queen “ and it still looks good as new, one of my mates thought it had about 8,000 miles on it,…it actually has 27,000 miles on it now and it’s still brilliant!! Don’t be frightened to use the bloody things! I’m aware that I’d get buttons for it as a part ex, but do you know what? .. I don’t care, rather than take a few grand for it, I’ll drain the oil and petrol out, give it a good polish and stand it under some spotlights in the front room and laugh and smile at all the good times I’ve had on it,..problem solved
@Phill748 i rode my mates V2 in summer and never noticed any excessive heat? He's also never complained about it, even after a 250 mile ride which did take us through some busy villages. My monster gets really hot from the rear cylinder in traffic but soon cools down when moving.
My 959 with underbelly Akras (just the slip ons, not full system), soon gets into the low 100s when air temp is in mid-20s, and gets noticeably toasty, but not unbearable. It soon drops into 90s when moving in slow traffic, and probably in 80s when running at speed.
I had actual burn marks when I rode mine with Kevlar jeans when I first got mine. Thing was savage. Heard they redesigned the header pipe under the seat though. Maybe that helped in some way for the later V2s.
Mine runs hot I must agree but as long as I'm not doin 20 through town for too long I can live with it. Rear shock is harsh though, will be getting that swapped out or fettled soon!
That's very hot. My 1098 only goes above 100 if completely stationary on a warm day. I don't like it at all when it's that hot (fortunately very rare). I didn't ride it at all in the heatwave for just this reason. Are you sure it's not a fault?
I don’t know, maybe, I was doing something with Trioptions as a mate was going to be racing in it and they said the bikes do vary a fair bit, maybe I got one that was particularly bad, not sure, either way it was too much for me and I’m gutted about it
Someone with a year newer V2 rode mine recently and noticed differences so I think they have done some stealth changes. Header pipe that loops under the seat is different, gearbox on his was smoother than mine and the throttle play was significantly less on his than mine.
have you got any pictures of the changes? I went on their website looking for images and they all look the same as the ones we had. I've noticed the smaller changes, things like the shock mount now has big white teflon bushes, which none of the V2 engined panigales have had before and some other little cable routing things but not noticed a bit change otherwise. Mine was a Feb 2020 bike so I guess first 'batch' as such.
