I prefer to think of it as more confident with both feet flat on the floor  Thing is with Diavel is that it's "different" and it takes some getting....I thought the same until I rode one and now I love it. I'd take one over a Panigale tbh as a proper fun daily bike. Most of my customers who own them are of the same mind to. You've got to try one to understand them. The Strada fills in the gaps left by the original because the people riding them are using them for distance work and i don't think that was in the original design brief.
I love the Diavel ... But the Strada good grief it !!!!!!! I nearly cried . Looks like horrid afterthought. Things like that should be added extras. The Strada bikes on the whole yuk
There is a theme developing here. Hyper Strada = Hypermotard with a tall screen and panniers. Diavel Strada = Diavel with a tall screen and panniers. Panigale Strada anyone? Then give it 6-12 months and bring out an SP version. And/or an R version? Call me a cynic but ther eyou have it..... Clever marketing or lazy marketing? Corners off to the quiet, cycnical seats at the back again!
It's not AS bad as people are making out IMHO, the colour isn't helping, I think in Red or Black it would look much better!
I think someone at Borgo Panigale must have seen the Diavel parked outside the factory on the way to WDW with a topbox on and thought they could do better. The screen doesn't suit the Diavel, and the backrest looks to Harleyesque, but the standard Diavel ain't pretty, and I'm kind of with nelly - if it's a response to what customers said they disliked about the original Diavel, and means they sell more bikes, that can only be a good thing. The Diavel's looks haven't grown on me over the years, but having ridden round the middle of Italy on my Monster in the summer, a bike which suits a relaxed cruisy mindset, but which corners and has lots of grunt made a lot of sense. The other half and I both sat on the standard Diavel again at EICMA this time (as we did 2 years ago when it was launched), and both liked the ergonomics. It's the only bike out there that we could both ride and be comfortable on (me being a shortarse and him being normal sized but finding the Multistrada just a little tall for comfort).
When the Drivel was launched, Ducati admitted to journalists at the time that the rear seat was for 'emergency' use only, so it's no surprise that they have a different rear subframe, imagine the law suits in America if they started to collapse under serious touring duty. Still a pig ugly thing though.
I see several folks picking on the bike and referencing the 'yanks will love it' as if this is a slam or a put down to the USA. Now I could say several things picking on the Brits as you guys across the pond have a lot we can pick on. However, I won't as I realize there are lame brained people everywhere and that only a few make simpleton comments. When you make posts, try to be respectful. Posts like Doodle's reflects poorly on the lot of you...
Get serious, no one could possibly have taken a whole day to come up with that....................during a tea break maybe.
I really like the Diavel, I guess once my wrists give up the ghost and my back goes fucked I will be looking at shit like this
Seems it's not just build quality that's not understood. Get over yourself John - compared to the tripe that I see trolled out on US forums that barely flickers on the meter. The American ethos is that "more is better", and quality comes second to that. That's why you get fantastically large and well-equipped cars for naff all money, but with interior plastics taken from a wheelie bin (I hire one every time I go and visit family). It's why Harley's show signs of corrosion within minutes of coming out of the showroom. The reason they will love it is because half the posts I see are bemoaning the lack of luggage options and the like. Good on them for wanting to tour on it - it's something that you're far less likely to see in the UK, more's the pity.
Put it this way, it doesn't look any worse than most Harleys, and it's a real bike that goes around corners, brakes, and has 150 bhp. In fact, it would be hard to understand why most Americans wouldn't want to ride this. I like the Diavel, I make no bones about it. It's great to ride. I respect Americans for actually wanting to go somewhere on their bikes - somewhere which requires luggage. America is a big place.
