1260 Uk Bike Riding In Europe.

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Tomasbe, Aug 27, 2021.

  1. Just been to France and had numerous drivers not happy with my low beam flashing me furiously. I thought my Multistrada 1260S has unbiased, ie same for both sides, spread of light. Was I wrong or French drivers are just too sensitive to light. Do not have any issues in UK.

  2. Multi headlight is high with luggage. Its a Ballache, even without luggage can be high

  3. I alway thought bike headlights were unbiased, didn’t experience any problems with my multi in France or Spain?

  4. Adjust them as low as you can get. Screws for adjustment are easy to get to.

  5. I got this a bit with my ST4s but the lights on that are terrible so not too much of an issue. Tunnels are an issue. I slapped a bit of sticky tape on the LH side lens

  6. Never had an issue with the 1260 in EU, you do have have them set as low as possible though when loaded up. Most modern (?) bikes have an even light spread so no need to mask the lights.

  7. Probably just French drivers, it's ok though, if you sit on their back end revving and looking menacing they'll soon pack up, surrender and pull over for a baguette with a lump of Brie ;)

For more tips on how to make friends in Europe give me a shout :upyeah::)

  8. Perhaps they were just warning you about speed traps (it’s what they do)!!!!

  9. Flash beam light and beep back to the stupid frogs

  10. Yeah, that as well :upyeah::)

  11. Several continental trips on my 1260 Mutley, including two up with luggage, and no adverse reactions from other road users. As others have suggested you might need to adjust beams down.

Have you adjusted suspension to compensate for the extra load? As you have an S model this is just a few button presses away.

  12. Thanks for advice. I did adjust the load to 2+luggage but didn’t fiddle with headlights themselves. It was my first outing to EU on my Multi so lessons have been learned. What I’ve noticed is that the darker it was the more flashes I had, ie. riding in full sun nothing but riding at night turned to rave party.

  13. Slightly off topic, but how did you fare travelling from and to the UK?
Did you experience any hassles at passport control?
How did you get on with Covid testing etc?

  14. Mine was too high from the factory two up with no luggage so i adjusted it down

When travelling two up loaded with luggage i change the setting to ENDURO (as i never use that setting) and have set everything; pre-load, compression damping, rebound damping to Maximum and so that ay i get a firmer ride with minimal wallowing.

  15. Still a hassle. PCR within 72 hours, pre book 2 day test in UK on line and have proof of booking and payment. Fill in locator form with pre book test details. Up load info to Eurotunnel site when booking your return or 24 hrs. Before you arrive at terminal.
Have all details with you, vaccination etc, letter or NHS App for double dose.
Apart from hoping the weather is OK and covering 1000km before arrival at terminal. Piece of urine.

  16. Same as Gartree’s experience. Also if you want to eat at any cafes and restaurants you need to download French NHS App equivalent to show QR code as proof of your vaccination which is painfully checked everywhere before serving.

  17. Probably need adjusting . I used to get the same response with a 2013 Multi. Passing through tunnels seemed to get the most notice.
