done france last month. all dead easy and getting easier as we find best tests/processes etc. (best one is taking 'fit to fly' antigen tests with you to take day of return etc) off to germany next week via holland which is tad more complex but nowt to stop us going
Just experienced another wrinkle. What do you do when your Day 2 PCR test result is (a false) positive ? Well, the test lab informs NHS Trace and 2 days later they contact you and tell you to self isolate for 10 days. Despite a subsequent (NHS) PCR test that is negative and the obvious anomaly that the person you have been sharing a bed with for 5 days in Spain had a negative result, NHS Trace are intransigent and adamant you have to self isolate. You also have to endure the third degree about your recent contacts. To my knowledge 4 people, including me, were pinged and told to self isolate unless exempt and to get a PCR test. Currently 3 of those people I have spoken to, having got their results, tested negative and NHS Trace have phoned to check you are in self isolation. Not sure what NHS Trace would do if, like many older adults who aren’t surgically attached to their mobile phone, you don’t answer but I don’t want to find out. Andy
Im off to Spain again this weekend on my own. Did the same last October. Im on the road 6 odd hours a day and in my room or eating/drinking outside in way less populated places than where i live. I thought sod it, the risk is actually lower and went then and am going again. Seems once in the EU and travelling by road, there are few restrictions. Im heading from Spain to Portugal, back to Spain and home. Seems i can get into Spain with their online form and my double jab certificate. As im in Spain for 24hrs (just) i can go to Portugal and back with no further tests or hassle. The only hassle of course is coming back to the UK where i must buy a non NHS test and do it before i get home. They 'advise' a PCR as ive been to Spain but in the next sentence say it can be PCR or antigen blah blah which i already have. So ill be doing that. You should have carried on reagardless and gloated with your awesome pictures and experience.
I'm in Spain now. Travelled down from Pamplona to El Burgo de Osma and on to Albarracin tomorrow. Just go as you don't know if you'll ever be able to go in the future. The way the tyranny is going you may not get another chance.
Greetings from Spain, do not be afraid, except in some very specific municipalities, no more than four or five, of the thousands that exist, the risk is very low. Vaccination with double doses already exceeds 70% of the total population, everything is open and without problems, only masks are mandatory indoors, or when 1.5 meters cannot be maintained among non-cohabitants. Be careful with the night crowds in the streets to drink or dance, they are considered bottles, they are illegal and the fines are high, for the rest, enjoy the sun, we have a lot. Well there you have it Shoboshi, various people in Spain now or about to go, just do it. Do it on your own and make them jealous.
