Is there anywhere I can send my ECU off to be flashed in UK/Europe? I'm trying to get my SF1098 running smooth and the two best options seem to be Tuneboy or reflash. Tuneboy costs about £340 without customs charges so I wanted to find out how much a reflash costs Fuggin wish these bikes would come sorted out the factory!
Why not just take it to a dyno and get them to sort it? Reflashing it to another map may not cure all your problems, especially if it's not the map that's the problem...
I'm pretty sure the stock ECU can't be tuned on the dyno. It definitely is the map, common problem. Shit around 3k and between 4-5k I've read loads on the MS forum but sending it to the US is a pain plus expensive. Avanti race parts seem to do it?? EDIT: Just seen you have Avanti in your sig haha
You could put the DP map onto your standard ECU - the 5AM units are all the same, just different software. You can even remap the ECU if you really wanted to, but to get it working right it would need dyno time and somebody who knows what they're doing.
It's an 09 Streetfighter 1098. I don't need it perfect, just want it ride able at slow speeds. I'm just going off what I've read on the forums and most swear by either the Tuneboy or a flash from someone called Redline in the US. Obviously a dyno tune would be best but that means flash + tuning which = ££££ antonye do you work for Avanti? I want to ask them which map they would put on if they did it
For yours there are 3 maps: standard, DP slip-ons and DP full. Unless you've changed the cans/system and air filter, you'll probably make it worse just by changing the fuelling. I would start with a TPS reset and a CO2 adjust as both these things can easily be done by any dealer or decent service centre. If you still have trouble after that, look to having the throttle bodies checked and balanced. Your valves may also need to be checked as well, and setup right. Maybe even the cams need dialling in correctly. The point is that there are lots of things that you need to make sure are right first before you go changing the fuel map.
I have Arrow slip ons (no baffles) and standard filter which I may change at some point. So seeing my setup should I have the DP slip on map and then TPS/CO2 adjust or that first and then the map if needed? Thanks for the help so far
Yes, going to the DP slip-on cans ECU would give you more fuel which would help with the increased flow you've got with the Arrows and filter. Getting the TPS and CO2 set correctly is something that really should be done every service, but very few bother doing it.
Cool so you (assuming you work for Avanti) can set me up with the DP map and then I can get the other stuff done later this year with the belts
When you get the ecu flashed to change the map just have the exhaust valve disabled at the same time in the software. Don't be adding more junk. Antonye IS Avanti Another great source of having what you want done is ChrisW on here, PM him I'm sure hell sort it out for you if you don't find anyone else to do it for you.
Depending on which map you have, it may already disable the exhaust valve, or it can be done as part of the reflash. Drop ChrisW a pm on here as he may be able to sort you out.
£340 for tuneboy or whatever ain't far off a full puka custom map at CJS. Or start with an hours labour at dealer for a CO2 and/or tps set.
Thanks I will PM Chrisw, if I read right the TPS has to be reset anyway once a new map has been put on. Can I reset the TPS myself?
Just take the left hand side panel off and the ecu is only held in with two bolts and two multi core plugs. Taking the side panel off is the hard bit :-(
TBH if he has the £20 leads for ducatidiag he can flash the ecu himself too using the writer software from JP (the same guy who wrote ducatidiag). ;-)
