From my experience 160Hp+ bikes are mostly on 525 chains these days. My Gen2 S1000XR had a 525 chain and my H2SX has a 525 chain and that has stupid torque/HP, its chain is listed as EK525RMXZ/3D
As far as I see it; it's down to availability of sprocket sizes. Especially when opting for a rear sprocket carrier arrangement. This time around, not knowing what I know now, I went for 530 with a JT carrier and std 40T rear sprocket but got a 14T front sprocket. Had hoped to go 15/42 but no 42T 530 carrier sprockets on the market. Most sports bikes run 525 chains including most Ducatis, so a wider choice of options. Decent 525 chain is certainly up to the job.
As I understand it 2 more teeth means 2 more links. I went to 42 teeth on the rear of my 1199 and it followed that I needed 2 more links.
Think it's doable without splitting the chain but a bit of a struggle. Failing that have a new joining link on-hand and split the old one.
