I did a fair bit of research when buying my 1997 & every picture I found had ducati racing on rear. 1998 had different graphics & no embossing on rear wheel. My 97 looks just like this one because it was easier to paint newer set of 3 spokes than refurb the originals. I've also had nose cone painted white (should be solid red) helps with being seen hopefully! Just feel for £24k this bike has a few question marks.
You're probably right but you've forgotten the Italian factor when they run out with the correct parts on the assembly line....just bolt anything on.
