Interesting email - probably spam, suggesting my bike has been nicked

  1. Well, that's conclusive.
As of October 2011, the Met employed 48,661 full-time personnel. This included 31,478 sworn police officers, 13,350 non-police staff, and 3,831 non-sworn police community support officers. This number excludes the 5,479 Special Constables, who work part-time

  2. So whats the outcome? Have you phoned the switch and asked to be put thru?

  3. ive been in the same force for 20+ years with only around 4000 employees of one sort or another and i don't know most with less than 20 years service......

the .pnn.police.uk is the format of a genuine address

i would just ring the station in question from a number i would of found and ask to be put through to the department in question and ask to speak to him.....good luck!!!!!

  5. Not the Met apparently............I have just examined several recent emails from different people in the Met to me...........none have the 'pnn'..........here is one directly copied with the addressee omitted..... ****.*********@met.police.uk

My mate is a 30year member and because of his role (which I can't say) he would know many, bearing in mind which 'station' he is based......

  6. I think that's what I would have done straightaway bearing in mind the phone number is correct........

Perhaps Matt's bike is stolen and Matt has inadvertantly ended up with a ringer.....Hope not!

  7. Very true. I'll be phoning up the station, or trying to tomorrow as suggested several times. I only posted it to see if anybody else had a similar email or to warn people if they get a subsequent email. Personally, I'm very sceptical about it. I've received emails from the MET, mainly after somebody tried to nick my other bike, but this one has never been reported stolen. I'm certainly not going to reply to the email/use the contact details that have been given.

  9. and PNN is a genuine police type email. It's one used by civilian police employees - the one ones you can trust :upyeah:. Here's an example name.changed@cheshire.pnn.police.uk . Moderators - please move this post to Forum - waste of fucking time.

  12. I refer you to post No.14.............I have emails from Plod elsewhere too, with 'pnn' in the email address.....it's used by civilians and uniform and plain clothes alike (in regional forces)...........and apparently not in the Met.......

F-me, someone will be arguing in a minute about where Plod keeps his sandwiches.....
