I had a faired one for a year, loved it. As already mentioned the torque is addictive and it handles really well. Only thing I wish I’d done was change the cans and decat it as it sounded a bit weak in my opinion. Oh and when the sunlight hits bezels on the clocks you get a flash of blue in your eyeline, which is annoying.
I might have to succumb to a silver R with a fairing next year. I’ve liked them ever since I first saw them at Motorcycle Live.

I miss my Thruxton R like crazy! It's the best bike I've owned by far. At the time though, I needed a sportsbike for trackdays (and still do) and my V2 was really new so would have lost too much money, and needed to sell something because my missus was on furlough. I'm plotting to get another very soon and would recommend to anyone
When I checked my Thruxton spokes one day I had 7 loose ones, and I generally used to check them every 500 miles. I was actually planning to put Speed Twin allow wheels on mine as they are a lot lighter and don't use inner tubes. They don't look as cool
Just imagine if someone could design a modern day inboard disk brake like Honda did in the 80's, but one that would look like a polished alloy twin leading shoe drum! That would be the finishing touch on this
Thread resurrection Been looking at these recently and have the notion of getting one. Likely a 2016/17 1200R vintage in silver with the fairing and standard bars not clip ons to create some semblance of comfort. Are those that have had them/still got them as happy with the bike as they were all these months/years ago? Any potential pitfalls? At what mileage are the big services due?
I have a 2016 model, without the fairing. Had it for a year and love it. Mine doesn't have the half fairing. I find it ok for comfort, great for 40-100 mile blasts. Think if you have the fairing, it requires the lower set of bars, otherwise the standard bars may foul the fairing. I'd check if that's the case. Mine is great up to about 90mph. After that wind gets a bit of an issue as you get over a ton, and higher than that the steering becomes a little light. But it's the ooomph out of a corner and keeping it to sensible speeds where it really has a grin factor. I had the big service at 10,000 miles at a triumph dealer and it was just over £200 all in! Taking it for a weeks fun in the Picos mountains in Northern spain next week.
Since my last comments on this post I've sold the green one and kept my modded one, In standard form these bikes are great but with the SC there even better, Great bikes
