----------- UPDATE:- ----------- A deal has been done and some of the parts below will be available, and I'll post them in the for sale section in the next few days..... ----------------------------------------------------------- Mixed emotions, but finally faced the truth that for pillion riding the Mutley is just too tall for us to be comfortable and not have height anxiety where ever we go :-( I bought 'Scarlett' a 2013 MTS 1200S touring from new, with all the top box panniers and full Termi system in September 2013, and in all that time we have only clocked up 7000 miles. So its time for a change..... Do I part X? I can get 6.7k against a 2020 Diavel. Webuyanybike have offered me 6k. My plan is to remove some the goodies I have added and put her back to standard. Do you think there would be much interest in a Full termi system carbon bits including nose section, mid tank panel and a nice pillion seat cowl (I also have the under seat tray with the handles removed for a super sleek look). Evotech tail tidy. Rizoma water pump protector Renthal fat bars Ducati performance mirrors Side stand foot plate thing Gilles CNC footpegs for rider and pillion Ducati performance low seat I'm hoping the funds from these parts will go some way to the purchase of the Diavel. providing of course there is a 'market' for these parts. TIA Deaks
@deaks I'd certainly be interested in the Termignoni, the under tray with the handles removed and the water pump cover if they fit my 2010 which I'll check with my dealer. Andy
This is a fairly recent pic, showing the termi, pegs and carbon stuff. I feel so bad that we didnt use the bike enough, truth is we are both short asses and the height was always a problem, now I'm even older, the height situation is only getting worse, hence the decision to sell. Those with keen eyes will notice that the end can is a bit shorter than normal, looks so much better and is not really any louder than before. The tail looks so much better without the grab handles with the carbon cowl to replace the seat too She has always been garaged and looked after, its gutting to see the prices they sell for now. A fabulous bike for someone with an inside leg greater than 30 inches (on a good day). If anyone has an idea of what the Termi is worth (complete with airfilter and USB 'upmap' stick) I have the baffle for it too but it didn't really make much difference. TIA Deaks
Back to square one........ Mrs Deaks and I travelled to Ducati Aylesbury to test ride the Diavel 1260S. I placed a refundable deposit last week on the basis that if the pillion experience was not good, we could get the deposit back. Just as well it was agreed, as we found the pillion experience far from satisfactory. Both of us had a 'twinge' in the back of our right leg after no more than 20 minutes , and poor Mrs Deaks could not get comfy in the 45 minutes or so that we were out on it. The Diavel also had the Termi pipe on it.... Fuck my boots, I thought my Mutley with a full Termi was loud, but the Diavel was obnoxiously loud. My ears are still ringing today. Fair play to Mark at Ducati Aylesbury, the deposit was refunded without quibble there and then. So off we went back to Bristol, really quite disappointed. We stopped in Blade (Ducati Oxford) and I swung a leg over the V4S Mutley, it instantly felt lower than our 2013 model. Then I find out that the standard seat will go lower, that there is a 30mm lower seat option, and also there is a -20mm suspension lowering kit (fork springs. rear shock spring and side stand) for around £250!! It seems my quest for a bike that is comfy for two short asses and goes like the clappers may have been resolved. Now need to take a test ride on one. I think the Pikes Peak is going to stretch our budget too much, Maybe a V4S Sport with the full akro would fit the bill. A weird thing at Blade though.... they don't allow test rides with a pillion!!!! Shame as there is no way I'm buying without checking the pillion experience again. Watch this space....... Deaks
It will be their insurers who insist no pillion. If she gets on the back I would guess you are no longer insured.
Probably still covered on your own insurance (3rd party other bikes) and if it’s only for a quick test ride probably worth risking it… … or find a dealer who is ok about pillions
I live in Bristol, but my office is in Basingstoke, I normally go there once or twice or fortnight. A diversion to Moto Rapido may well be in order. BTW does anyone know how much deposit is needed to reserve a Pikes Peak v4 Multistrada?? Deaks
Isn’t the seat height of the 1200/1260 DVT (when adjusted) lower than the V4 MS? If you don’t have to have new then maybe a lightly used 1260s, and save a few bob?
