So I've already done the pre-load adjustment on the front following info on these forums. Much better now The rear shock, I tell the bike single rider, no luggage..... and that's it ? There's no further intervention required from me to tell the bike my weight, or manually adjust anything to set the initial sag ?
you can set each mode and each rider/luggage combo to the pre-load and damping of your choice, its all in the menu and then when you've set and saved them you just swap via the solo/solo+ luggage etc choices
That’s how I set my previous one. On my own, set to rider and pillion. Sag was about right, remember you can not check sag if the bike isn’t running. Skyhook locks up.
That's the basics but obviously it depends on what you weigh vs what the typical.weight would be for the single rider setup. In addition you can set the firmness, softest, softer, harder or hardest if I recall correctly. That's trial and error until you find the right feel, again this can be done for each rider load category in each of the bikes ride modes. Then if.tpu want to try and fine tune you can add or reduce the preload within the.me us too.
Interesting posts above. We all seem to be coming to the same conclusion that once you’ve set the front manually, setting it to 2 up no luggage gives the best handling. I’ll also add that I find it best in touring mode, sport becomes a bit harsh. If anything I was a bit disappointed with the 1 up no luggage setting, suggest you try two up. Obviously it would be best to attempt to transfer those settings to 1up no luggage but you know what life’s like. BTW, I’m 81kg but still find the two up setting best.
That is where I differ from all of you, I am heavier than all of you, have all the rear suspension in default & use it as normal i.e rider just me, rider luggage etc…….
Which only goes to show, each to their own. Come to think of it I’ve got some of my settings in ‘harder’ too. If you’re happy with it, it’s all that matters.
It must be just me then that’s set every option in every mode to how I want it I use the bike in all the different ways and being able to press a button to change to my settings is ace Oh… apart from Urban… never use that apart from adjusting the chain
I'm around 84KG kitted up I guess. I've not had a problem with solo rider no luggage setting, but not having to experimented with other settings I don't know if its optimal for me yet. And this is the best place to ask
Same. But I used to have the settings firmer to control how the bike reacted rather than preload. But…that was becaue adding rider plus pillion or luggage made the bike an inch taller, which I didn’t want. For track, I put both on and if in a fast ride, especially bumpy back roads, I’d often change to with pillion as I needed that extra lift to stop grinding too many things out
