  1. I would not want an Iphone. My wife has one and it overheats in the summer just running Googlemaps for more than an hour. Mine a few years back, charging port packed in after 18months.

I have had a Samsung A8 mounted on the handlebars of my GS for many thousands of miles over the last 2 years. No issues. maybe some mounts transfer more vibrations.

Off topic a bit but, TBH I have loads of Samsung products and never have issues, tv, high end music dock, washing machine, phones...Apple products though...the only item that has been issue free is an Ipad.

  2. The integrated app for phone/screen on my GS worked great. Until you lost mobile signal. But certainly good enough to use without needing an extra satnav ime. As long as you have a rough idea of direction of travel….

  3. Placed my order for one. Should be here in December.:upyeah:

Looking forward to trying it all out, any problems I still have Tomtom Go app on my phone and it connects to my headset for audio if I cant see the screen for any reason.

  4. Having things like speed limit on your dash is really useful ime.

  6. I never had any issue with any of my iPhones overheating.

I use it all the time via Apple Play in the car for Nav and for tunes (at the same time)...but no way would I have a £1000+ phone sitting on my handlebar at the mercy of rain and vibration though. I have a TT Rider for that ;)

  7. Samsung A8 dual sim. It is IP68 rated. No issues with a bit rain so far. Paid about £300 new.
I would not pay much more for a phone. If weather turns in to a monsoon, it can always go in my pocket, it will still be blue tooth connected to the dash.

  8. Tbh, I go on the bike to get away from my phone, handy if you need directions though but don’t tour so rarely need it, got the quadlock with the vibration mount for when I do though, not had any issues with it damaging the phone as yet. If I toured a lot though I think I’d get a dedicated bike satnav?

  9. This system is great tbh. You only need carry one item then too: your phone. I had mine in coat or bag, never on the front as iPhones don’t like heat…

  10. Latest iPhone adds from Apple show an i13 being mounted on a motorcycle handlebar. I wonder if there is an exclusion in the small print of the guarantee stating that the advert was not real life…

  11. Once more bike manufacturers adopt Apple CarPlay on their TFT’s, this will be redundant.

  12. When....

  13. The bmw is kind of CarPlay

  14. Sat nav fitted and phone connected to the gs, I can jump back and forwards using the menu and magic wheel, suppose I only need bluetooth ear things. No idea, to much tech, but taking the odd call on the move could be handy, if I knew how to do it.
