But it hasn't, I haven't blindly bought into anything I have cherry picked what I want from any brand I choose, I love watches, dislike Rolex but love G Shocks, like nice clothes, will happily buy a Hugo Boss suit but not a plain white tee when i can get the same from GAP / Next ? M&S ... I dont hate any brand because they market things that make no sense, I just don't buy them !
It's one of the worst countries for owning any sort of decent vehicle. The cars are just ridiculous - it's why Paddy spec is a thing here. The Yaris GR retails for around 62k here with the circuit pack (55k for the absolute lowest spec version). The finance is 1200/1300 quid a month on PCP!
G Shocks are good watches, rather one of those than a Rolex. I dont spend as much on clothes as i did when I was younger. Whilst saving for my 1198 I never bought a shred of clothing and looked like a tramp, much to my wifes chagrin. I'm saving again for R1M, very nearly there. I dont worry about clothes anymore. As long as Im clean and dont smell, thats good enough. I only begrudge brands that big themselves up. If I thought the 26K was good value and wasnt full off cheap plastics, screws that snap/shear/fall off and small parts finishes that blemish easily, then I'd buy one. But its a 20K bike. Its not a 26K bike. At that price premium should mean premium on all aprts. Fixings included. Dont get me started on screens cracking either.
Fuck sake, don’t say that… it’s time I started funding my retirement or at least being a bit more sensible with my dosh…. How many horsepower? Any pictures?
You have about 11 months to save a deposit, however, if I were you, I’d be putting a £500 “holding deposit” down now because the moment the bike is properly rumoured, the entire first campaign assembly will be sold out. Andy
Some interesting points here, and good that we all have our own take on things, personally if I see a bike I really want I just pull out all the stops to get it(if I possibly can of course) When the V4r came out I desperately wanted one so I managed to sell my kidneys and get it! Now as for worrying about throwing it down the road, that’s never been a consideration to me ,ever! It’s pointless to me to not wring it’s neck at every opportunity! I managed to get a full fat Bsb superbike some years ago ,I was racing a 2005 zx10 at the time and jumped straight on to this thing !!! A lot of my pals were saying “but what if”!! I said “whatever” and sure enough 3rd race destroyed him! Do I have any regrets? Not one! I’d do it again tomorrow! People rattle on about “one life” etc but don’t actually live it out! I’m not super wealthy and I’ve worked hard and continue to do so to enable me to try and gets some bits I want ! I did kid myself that I would sell my R1 to get the Ducati but just can’t cos I love that too! As for this theory that they’re all too mental for the road ? Not for me! I road my V4r loads this year and absolutely loved every minute! Yes of course it’s better on track but still loved it ! I’d say just get what you want and can afford and screw what anybody else thinks! Just my opinion!
I would add Bootsam if you’re gonna get an R1 to race (fantastic choice) I’d consider the stock R1 as all the things that the M has over the stock you’ll be changing anyway I would assume!! Motorsthe same!
Financial or engineering units? The Rolex still has the G-Shock covered I’d say. Particularly if you’re playing the long game.
Love a G-Shock, use them at work all the time. Bought a Sea Dweller back in 94 for 1.8k and the exact same model year fetching 8.5k on the bay now. Not selling it though...
To be fair to Ducati, a lot of their bikes and parts are still made in Italy i believe, and there is a cost premium to being built down the road these days, rather than manufactured in China/India/Thailand.
I'm surprised new V4R isn't coming this year. It's getting pretty out of dated in WSBK. All other manufacturers released new versions this year
