The old one with a few tweaks is going to be equally as capable. Must have bragging rights and pub banter for the purest fast track riders then possibly more configuration. Lets face it it’s totally pointless as a road bike! I genuinely had more fun on my modified 959 on the road. Simply because its more accessible! No denying that all the V4 varieties are pretty special to ride, sublime power and intoxicating soundtrack, and slightly more civilised than the V2 incarnations
Most lower powered bikes really benefit from light we]heels and upgraded/properly set up suspension. Scrub that. All bikes…. Lol
I'm on the fence here but itching for another Panigale where the itch is getting stronger with each iteration. I loved each moment of the three years on my Panigale 959 with the exception of bumpy roads and slower urban riding which left me wrist-less and hotter than damnation. Which bike will it replace: the comfortable Multistrada Pikes Peak or the Monster 1200R which scares the bejesus out of me when I wack the throttle WO, stare at the sky followed by school girl giggles? The Panigale is a terrible road bike but I still want one. How stupid is that? That's a rhetorical question btw.
First batch of launch videos are hitting YouTube. 44Teeth's is likely due out tomorrow. This Italian journo seems to be very complimentary about it.
I would be interested to hear how the 2022 v4s compares to the 2019 V4r. Also spoke to a dealership today about a couple of bikes and was told there was an Sp 2 v4s coming
