The thing for me was the variation and character in the engine, you never knew quite what you were going to get. I luckily always had mine running okay, even when they weren't making the most power they could they were up together but you could kick the RS250 over on a crisp morning and it just had that little crackle to the sound of the arrow's and you knew it was going to be a day where it ran really crisp. Nothing really beats that crackle and stumble at 7k revs as it starts to come on 'the pipe' I admit, but obv they have their downsides too, the RS had SHITE suspension, and it did hold it back, I would always have loved to ride one with some modern forks and shock in to see what it was like, but the bike had a tendency to skip over fast bumps in the road when really pushing on, it's just something they did.
Had finally managed to get mine back together but as we’ve had the back of our house taken off this year it’s currently been stored at a mates. The forks have been to MCT with a standard rear shock but will get a Nitron when funds allow. Very woolly under 8k then it flies. Think it may be a sticking choke which is causing the problem so will have a look at that when I get it back.
Love it. Mine is starting much better now as I’ve changed the spark plug, though it’s still got that stumble you referred to. However, with the DT it’s at 5k, just before it hits the powerband and you feel the mighty eruption of all 16.5 BHP
Oh okay go on then… I don’t have either any more but ref the lucky strike bike, if you know what it is, and the spec, you indeed know your onions, it’s not just an RGV . The 125 I got cheap and rebuilt for a giggle on back roads
