bought some one-use Bics recently to compare with similar Gillettes but never again as they really were inefficient in comparison. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong as they were that bad.

The only answer i can give you's Very carefully or you might be in trouble.

 

Exactly the same for me Chris, cheap and nasty, blunt tools do more damage than sharpe ones in my opinion.

 

It's all about the stretching.
