That’s Stunning mate.... congratulations I think that’s going to surprise a few people on track! They still make a good chunk of horsepower. And definitely not shy in the handling department. Enjoy
thanks Dave, i remember Hector Neil saying to the last owner how fast it was (definatly been tuned). Apparently DJ said when he came in not to touch anything on the bike as it was so good , said he'd wipe the floor with everyone the next day, but he never made the next day
well last time i rode the old girl at castle combe the FI light came on so bike was shipped to road and race in verwood to get on the dyno, turns out the ecu pins have corroded for the exhaust valve, so looks like i need a new one.
Not sure how I missed this thread. I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time with DJ through Mike @Rage Designs, Mike was painting his lid and I think the V&M R1's back then. Mike was also painting CCM's SM's back then for Warren Steele and Foggy, Foggy bust his leg so next thing Stalker was on the CCM... lots of stories there, but I digress. CCM used to have a SM endurance race series and we had signed up (a 4 man team, me, Mike, Little Ern - one of his painters and DJ). We rocked up at 3 sisters and the other teams weren't too happy having the fastest man at the TT to race against, I ended up highsiding the thing and smashed my right hand to pieces, knuckles the size of walnuts with the swelling. Off I went to the St John's ambulance to get checked out, no sooner had they started strapping my hand/wrist the red flags came out, a guy had had a huge off (bust his femur) so they booted me out bandage hanging off everywhere... DJ came to the rescue and just tied it up, laughing telling me to get back out there. He couldn't stop talking about his bloody RC's cars also.... seemed he spent a fortune on the buggers tricking them out. He was a good guy, barking and funny.
Well chaps I've just aquired another piece of TT history. A David jefferies replica OGK helmet signed by Nick jefferies and the late Tony jefferies from the 2010 parade lap where Nick rode the bike.
I was at the TT that year watching the mighty DJ go past the Mitre pub in kirkmichael on your bike. I will never forget the noise thundering towards us from that Gixxer... What a Bike to have. Respect!
