Hamilton Spoiler!

  1. To be honest if i was going to pay to watch a channel i wouldn't expect to have any adverts, thats why i would have paid.
For a company to get paid by the advertiser and paid by the viewer to watch adverts about sums the whole thing up.

  2. Blimey, you haven't watched it for a while then? None of that good stuff happens any more. It's pretty boring to be fair. Well, it was until Max Verstappen came along and ruffled Hamilton's feathers. And in doing so angered all the LH fan boys. Tune in next weekend, you'll enjoy it. Max is a nutter. He's single handedly made F1 fun and exciting again. He'll probably get beat but you might get to see Toto Wolfe (Mercedes team boss) smash up another set of headphones as he loses his shit with MV. Hilarious! :D:upyeah:

  3. “Advertising” seems to really wind some people up.
Unless you just watch the BBC, you’re going to be subject to advertising & it’s always been that way. Drives me mad too sometimes but actually Sky have been pretty fair with sports coverage imo & where sports don’t have a natural break, they don’t have one either. Try looking at US sports if you think it couldn’t be any worse.
I mean what’s the alternative really? If you want to be able to see premium sport, it has to be paid for. Subs won’t ever do that on their own & look how angry some get when the beeb dares put up the licence fee!

  4. BTW

    PS.
Neither you nor anyone else ever got anything "Free" from the BBC. The luvvies at the BBC however get a great deal from you -if you are a license payer.

  5. Yea but i am of an age where F1,Test Cricket, English Rugby, premiership football etc was all covered by BBC with no adverts. Has TV moved on with Sky and the BT ? not at all. its all exactly the same but now you have to pay for it and the best sports are behind a paywall , A large proportion of the public, like me, who was an avid watcher of F1 for 30+ years have lost interest
I simply record everything and watch it the next day and FF the adverts.
    Each to their own :)
Ok so the BBC gave the rights up, they didnt lose them.

You need a licence to own a TV whether you watch BBC ore not so its a TV licence not a BBC licence. If the Gov funds the bbc with the licence fee thats by the by.

  6. Hate to be bearer of bad news -but this ^^^ is not true.

  7. I am of that age too Paddy & there is some truth to what you say about the inequity of now having to pay for sport but you’re just flat out wrong to say sport has not moved on in TV. The coverage is massively better now on every single sport & they’ve picked up many & made them into TV sports that the BBC could never have done.
I do regret having to pay what I do, but a lot of it wouldn’t be there at all if it wasn’t for the pay channels.

  8. Very, very few things are done by bbc productions that are as good as the main pay for channels. Especially sport

  9. No point in saying things arnt true unless you can explain. You are obviously just out for an argument and frankly i cant be bothered with you :) even if the BBC was taken off air forever you would still need a TV licence until they scrap the TV licence.

  10. I don’t thing Jez is just looking for an argument & he’s right, you do not need a TV licence if you own a TV, you need one to watch broadcast TV. If all you did was watch streaming services or DVDs or play games on a TV, you don’t need a licence to do that.

  11. I can explain & I'm glad to help.

  12. You only need a tv licence if you watch tv as it’s being broadcast or some stuff on demand.

If you only watch Netflix, amazon, now tv or some other catch up services you don’t need a licence.

I don’t have one because I barely ever watch tv and when I do it’s just films.

  13. Wonder if Hamilton has a TV licence

  14. If he does I’m sure someone else pays for it…

  15. I was glad when Rosberg won the drivers championship. I'm not a Hamilton fanboy, but I do want him to win this year. Verstappen is an arrogant, spoilt prick IMO, and I reckon he'd be mid pack in anything but the Merc or RB. Roll on the start of next year, when Hamilton won't have to tip toe around Verstappen anymore.

  17. He's an F1 professional driver. I dobt he has much time between training, driving and PR for watching Eastenders.

  18. He likes track days (on a bike) at Almeria, so keep yer eyes peeled... Simon Crafar was giving him tuition and said he was the first pupil he'd ever known that he had to tell to brake earlier
