Lewis needs to take it on the chin and come back next year to win, that’s the sign of a true champ. You can’t win everything in life.
no point in commenting on the "fairness"** of todays race, as this will mean typing for days afterwards. It's nothing to do with his driving abilities but I have to say Lewis Hamilton has certainly gone up in my estimations after seeing what looked like a sincere reaction at several times post race. had a good read up on how rules and regs have changed over the years, particularly pre "Safety Car" which I remember weren't ideal over the years either. ** https://sportsmediaweekly.weebly.com/does-media-depend-on-sport-or-vice-versa.html For reference (so far) :- "Article 48.12 deals with the situation of having backmarkers unlap themselves. Initially, Masi had been within his rights to state that 'Lapped Cars will not be allowed to overtake' - which meant Verstappen would be trapped behind five backmarkers before he could get a run on Hamilton. However, on the penultimate lap, on the run down to Turn 9, Masi sent a message saying that five cars – Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel could unlap themselves. The decision to only allow some lapped cars to unlap themselves is unusual as Article 48.12 suggests that the message 'LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE' should be sent to all competitors. The regulation is then explicit about when the race can be restarted. It states: "Unless the clerk of the course considers the presence of the safety car is still necessary, once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap. "If the clerk of the course considers track conditions are unsuitable for overtaking the message "OVERTAKING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED" will be sent to all Competitors via the official messaging system " This clause suggests that with the lapped car message having come out on lap 57, then the restart could only come at the end of the 'following lap'- so lap 58, which was the end of the race. " If Mercedes are that unhappy they can always pull out from the Series in the future - do you think that they will?
If the thread title had read:- "Formula One race results from Abu Dhabi 2021" then i'll agree with you, the additional of "spoiler" to the title would appear unnecessary, but even if it had been added just to save a few Forum members from reading a revealing result that might have altered their enjoyment in watching a recording post-race, would this have been such a terrible thing Symon? let's be honest here..
So what? How many times have we seen Man U get a dodgy last minute penalty? We love sport for passion and excitement. Max is a well worthy champion and I was very happy to see him prevail. Mercedes toys well and truly out the pram. To try and overturn the result with a team of blood sucking lawyers is pathetic.
First F1 I've watched for about 6-7 years and then I was dragged to Silverstone (I actually fell asleep in the grandstand it was that dull), what a dull race... was there literally 2 changes for the lead in 58 laps?? And actually other than lap 1 and lap 58 the rest was just, well... I assume at the end of the race the top 3 are supposed to put their cars on the track not parc ferme... what happened there then with Hamilton?? I won't be watching for some years again, until they just make it a flag to flag like the old days.
Tbf Chris, and you know how I feel about toasters giving results away without spoiler, it’s 40 pages long and spoilers had been in for the last 10 pages probably. So if anyone had read any of that then they really should expect results to be talked about.
I agree, it usually is boring as fuck. But yesterdays race had an exciting build up and the end was sensational...
So it’s all petty bollocks and pedantic, but the point stands Paul, I’m talking about new people coming onto the thread or anyone for that matter, for the sake of one word..
MotoGP's my favorite by a long chalk. I've missed loads of live racing as I regularly get dragged out for Sunday lunch. So I record it! It's pretty easy to avoid spoilers. Don't look at your phone. Don't have the radio on on the way home and don't go on live social fekkin media....
Yeah totally agree, if you’re going to be one of these whinging cunts because of spoilers then stay off the internet and don’t even bother with TV or radio, in fact lock yourself away in the shed and wank yourself into oblivion.
I am the same because I’m such a cynical suspicious bastard, if something could happen then it will happen. I’m already well prepared for both you and @XH558 on here, you couple of rapscallions.
Whats happened in your life to make you like this because your sole intention is clearly to piss everyone off and spoil it for others? Has your wife run off with the kids? Are you struggling with substance abuse? (and before you say its because you say it how it is, no you dont you just say it the loudest and on repeat which is nowhere near as funny as you think it is) I can have a word with one of the mods and see if they can change your username to gringey cammon if you like?
and so with my last post in mind, I was just thinking of others Mary, but I know how unpopular that standpoint is these days.
Rupert spoilt it for me, on rich mans TV....elected to record F1 to watch later to watch the Toon get yet another thumping. In between conceding goals, and without warning, Sky suddenly switched to The Sky F1 channel to show Max crossing the finishing line to take the championship. WTF!
