Yes there was huge gap left, wide enough for your local fire brigade, but you can't punt somebody off the black stuff and get away with it, or can you these days. Based on we know now about Lewis's tyres and the Mercedes speed he would've taken Max out within ten odd laps anyway. Max has raised the bar on aggressive driving, so the rest must up their game and push back.
I was a bit surprised Hamilton was bawling in the pits afterwards. He's won 7 championships, so it's not like there hasn't been plenty of success. I reckon he needs to MTFU, and drop some of the nice guy PR stuff. Or jack it in, because he's not going to enjoy the easy ride he's had for the last few years.
When was he “bawling in the pits”? Him and his father both congratulated Max & they embraced. I really don’t think there’s any real problem between them two apart from the usual rivalry banter, Horner’s been bitchin all season and Wolff has started it now because of losing the title. Not sure where you’re getting your narrative from Pauly
Not necessarily. It didn’t work for Toto after the first lap. Interesting fact. Toto means fanny in Nigeria and young child in Kenya (Swahili).
You seem quite defensive here, I wanted Hamilton to win too. You must have missed the shot where his old man was cuddling him in the garage? Verstappen seemed to mellow a bit, after being gifted the last lap. Hopefully he won't be such a dick from now on. But he does seem a stronger character than Hamilton.
Most of the lefties I know make me laugh, infact I’ve been known to let a little bit of wee out laughing at some of the things they spout.
This thread has it all, race, personal insults, politics, crying about spoilers, fashion tips, Nazis. Never change Ducati Forum…..
My view on it all. It's clear Lewis and Max are head and shoulders above the rest and I would have preferred Lewis to win, but wouldn't say Max is undeserving either. Even Bottas and Perez are no where in comparison in the same cars. I think there are some really good drivers in the field that would push them harder and think George has a good chance of pushing Hamilton in 2022, but other than one race that was basically nascar, hard to say for sure. I was disappointed that Lewis wasn't more aggressive with Max. Max basically just block passes you if you leave the door open and if you turn in you are getting punted off. If both had gone out, Max would have won and perhaps that's why Lewis was a little more reserved, but he could have covered off the inside line much better when Max was behind and I also think there was a bit of room to fire it up the inside of Max in the last lap rather than the outside, but would it have really made a difference? I think Masi screwed Lewis on this one (although come on Latifi, you only had a few laps to go). It didn't give last lap drama because Max was always going to sail past Lewis on those new tyres. What would have been brilliant TV is to red flag it, put both on new tyres and go for it for a 5 lap sprint! Not sure if Lewis had new softs or not, but would have been better than 40 lap Hard tyres even if just fresh/scrub Hards. Lewis was dominant the whole race even with the drama at the start, it wouldn't have changed much. I don't think Mercedes should peruse this further though. Even if they changed the result, it'll be a bit shit for both drivers. Not even sure Lewis would want it [Edit - Just read Lewis apparently asked Toto to withdraw protests which confirms my thought] As someone said, Max has changed the game on what's acceptable now, it's not new, just got to have less respect for the competitor. Bring back gravel traps.
I didn’t mean to come across that way but I think Hamilton can be given for embracing his father after having been blatantly robbed of an unprecedented eighth world title. I think he’s handled it well actually since and I’ve just heard he’s asked Mercedes to withdraw the protests. It’s a done deal now and we go onto 2022 but I hope that at the very least the FIA lay down concrete terms of what is and what isn’t correct practice in future because at the very least this was extremely unsatisfactory
I have just heard LH picks up a knighthood on Wednesday for “Services to motorsport”. Begs the question then, where is Jonathon Rea’s?
