A monday morning schadenfreude post for you... After a lovely week off it looked ok for my pedal to work today... A mile in the heavens opened and I was soaked through within 20 secs I could feel the rain puddling in my shoes... But it was only a short shower and ten mins later I was thinking "I'm drying out - which is nice" - just as cloud burst number two hit. To save time this happened twice more on the 6.5 mile ride to work. Anyway - I got to work soaked through and knowing that my cycling gear will not be dry for the ride home... I think the universe is punishing me for having a week off the bike!
Not been out at all this week. Finished work late a couple of times and horrid weather. Would like to go this morning in day light for a change, but am full of snot and barbed wire in my throat.
I've been the same all week, rough as rats. Not turned a crank except work commutes daily. Crap weather and barking like a scrapyard guard dog. Getting better now though, gonna turn a few peddles next week, have an easy weekend. Won't do me any harm to have a week off in truth, I've neck end of 500 hours and over 4500 miles on mtb's this year so far.
That’s exactly where I ride! Do you go up the steep hill just up on the left, and through Wentworth, as that’s the route I do? I then go through Virginia Water/ WGP, lap of Ascot racecourse, then into Swinley Park/ Forest.
all lovely, I didn't make it that far, I used to go to Jack's in Bagshot for bike meet but moved to a pub now, that i've yet to visit.
Yeah they’ve got rid of that now to stick another retirement dungeon in. That village is like gods waiting room now.
Probably wiser not to interact too much with motorists…….. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...st-who-spat-on-his-car?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
That's one of the best reasons for mountain bikes, I rarely meet motorists.... Off road. Everybody seems angry these days, runners, walkers, dog owners, dogs, motorists, cyclists.... Must be a post lockdown thing... Everybody seems like they're ranting at summat
Tempted though I am to rant back as a joke you are 100% right... I hoped we were going to come out of lockdown with a better sense of community but we haven't - everyone does seem angry - I'm doing my best one smile at a time to improve things! And driving standards have got worse over here - not a little bit, a lot !!
This happened a few miles from me last year. Some of the commentary really makes you wonder about whether there ought be a future for mankind....
Mahoosive slide on the bike on the way home - hit a known slippy section - front pushed hard (plow on understeer) but then the back got out of line a long way - the cyclocross back tyre does not like wet concrete. Not 100% sure how I stayed on - I'm going with a huge quantity of luck tbh as I'd run out of opposite lock by that point... Same route home tonight so hopefully it will do it again !
