If they do, I haven’t got one and I have no idea how I would get one. I doubt very much though that I will turned away Andy
I just got a “domestic “passport for something I was hoping to go to in January, but I’m expecting that to get cancelled as well. It was a bit of a marathon, but if I can do it then you can (when necessary).
That’s the problem with the IoT items - when the server fails, you’re fucked. Same with Tesla last month. You may know but people don’t need a key if they have their phone to start their car. So people that left their key at home, the servers went down and they couldn’t get into their cars for an hour. Same as my house really. From my phone, I control my CCTV, can open my front door (but can’t shut it), turn on the central heating/kettle/washing. Scary really as all of this has happened in one generation. Scary to think that people are now using facial recognition as a front door key to gain access to their house, rather than finger print.
on mine you could tick either/both so didn't bother with the travel as had jumped through many hoops already and feared an extra hold-up.. not even sure why they split them up.
Not entirely true about Tesla. The phone connects directly to the car, so if the App was active the server issue wouldn’t effect them. What happened was a few logged out of the App. With the server down they couldn’t then log back in. Regardless, you’re advised to always carry the backup keycard (credit card size) which is a “hard key” backup. It’s a good and very secure setup. Tesla’s are exceptionally hard to steal. Unlike pretty much anything else on the market.
Booster this a.m in out. No sit down after jab. Like bottles on a production line. In one door out the other.
Today I was out and about picking up materials for my build in my 2012 Mercedes diesel estate car. It’s a brilliant comfortable car with lots of life left in it and I don’t want to change it but the Mayor of London ‘Sadiq the complete Khant’ now levies a charge of £12.50 every day I use it! Asshole. Cleaning up the Capital’s air can only be a good thing but why can’t people phase out their vehicles? Given this I’ve been wondering what to do but funnily enough I don’t happen to have £50 grand to buy an electric car which doesn’t have the range I’d like. Today however I spotted a Toyota hydrogen fuel cell car, it’s the first time I’ve seen one on the road. As I pulled up next to it at the lights I bibbed my horn and got the driver to wind his window down. Sure enough, he confirmed it was hydrogen. ‘Good for you’ I said, ‘much better than electric’. ‘Yeah’ came the reply ‘electric is still fossil fuel’. ‘Yeah’ I said ‘and they weigh a ton which can’t be efficient and have no range either’. I’m not sure if he meant the batteries or that most likely a proportion of the electricity comes from burning fossil fuel. As I understand it, just to build a vehicle battery weighing upwards of 1,100 lbs would emit up to 74% more C02 than producing an efficient conventional car if it's made in a factory powered by fossil fuels in a place like Germany or China. (According to Munich-based automotive consultancy Berylls Strategy Advisors). So for now, drivers may still be better off with an efficient diesel engine. Which brings me back to the traffic lights. He said the infrastructure wasn’t there yet for hydrogen cars but as we moved off I concluded ‘Hydrogen is the way to go’.
I feel your pain. Our lovely city of Manchester in its wisdom is to introduce the clean air tax as of May next year, at a slightly lower tax rate of £10 for cars and vans that don’t have Euro 5 engines/ meet latest emissions standards Plus when it goes live it’ll be the biggest catchment area in the uk! All part of levelling up Britain
I’ll be in Manchester today. Just warning you. Get ready for the event! Actually Salford my home City. Never thought Manchester docks would become Salford quays and hear the announcement,The BBC live from Salford! When I was a kid the only live things in Salford were nits. I was born in Hope hospital in the sub district of Hope, Salford. Lived in hope. ever since. Learnt to use soft toilet paper in my 50s. Newspaper not as hygienic but Salfordians were always up to date on current events! All the kids at school had a squint caused by reading by candle light. Posh kids were OK they had gas mantles. I had National health glasses with a plaster over one lens. Still squint a lot but for different reasons. Any how change my tyres quickly to studded cross ply. Grip so much better on cobbles.
Yeah it’s changed so much The docks used to be full of boats and rats Now it’s darlings and designer shops. I spend a lot of time just over the water in old Trafford, it could do with a lick of Salford paint. Enjoy your homecoming.
Sorry about that. But I left early to get home to watch the football. But at least you saw the Bayliss
A quick foray to our local artisan deli this morning, just to scope what might be nice to go with cold meats and for those snacks when you aren't hungary but fancy a little something to titilate the palette. Well, £100 later, I have a tasting to look forward to for tea this afternoon Andy
